BREAKING: Louis Beland-Goyette has signed with @HfxWanderersFC for 2020.

The midfielder was a staple in @ValourFootball’s starting XI last year, stamping his place as one of the premier deep-lying playmakers in the #CanPL.

This move awaits public confirmation from the club.

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

This concludes the thread, at least for now.

I urge Valour fans not to be too disheartened by some of this news. The off-season is quite long & plenty of things could change from now till April. For now, keep an eye out for more official announcements from the club. #CanPL

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

It’s possible Valour could look to strengthen w/ some of the players released by other #CanPL clubs. For example, Elliott Simmons, released by HFX, would be a near perfect like-for-like replacement for LBG, for me. Plenty of fringe players from other clubs would start for Valour.

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

As for 18 y/o Tyler Attardo, I mentioned earlier this week he is receiving multiple offers from elsewhere (Europe, South & Central America).

It’s unclear whether Valour are going to let him go or not, but if this will further his career, he should be given every chance! #CanPL

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

There’s plenty more news! Also hearing that Marco Bustos has been offered a good contract & I am expecting him to stick around for 2020. That would be a key asset locked up.

Many of the other players are exploring options elsewhere & it’s still unclear how many will stay. #CanPL

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

This goes along with the rumour that many of the players weren’t happy with the way the club was run in the 2019 season. I’m personally not expecting Valour to compete in 2020 either.

Along with LBG & Petrasso, Arguinareña & Galvis also likely won’t be returning. #CanPL

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

These are 2 HUGE blows. The fact that neither of these players seem to be leaving for a higher level is seriously worrying as well. Not from the player’s perspective, but from Valour’s perspective. They are staying at the same level but feel the need to change clubs... #CanPL

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

My colleague @ThomasNef2 broke the news today that Mike Petrasso will be heading to York 9, which has been confirmed to me as well.

Along with this, Louis Beland-Goyette will also likely be leaving the club, & is in contract negotiations with HFX Wanderers. #CanPL

VALOUR FC ROSTER MOVE THREAD:

Former FC Edmonton icon Daryl Fordyce is on the verge of signing for the club.

The midfielder turns 33 next month & is currently playing for Sligo Rovers in Ireland. He is Northern Irish but will count as a domestic due to his time w/ FCE. #CanPL

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

It’s a bit strange that Petrasso didn’t move up a level, if this rumour indeed true. Obviously he wasn’t happy at Valour, which was a pretty worrying trend amongst a lot of the inaugural squad. Big shoes for the club to fill for 2020. #CanPl

🚨Big Splash coming at @York9FC

Michael Petrasso has agreed to a contract deal for 2020. The club has also brought in #CanMNT legend Paul Stalteri as assistant coach and Fired President Preben Ganzhorn.

Hearing there’s some significant interest from a higher level for a certain standout hometown teenager in the @ValourFootball squad...👀#CanPL

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

Valour FC announce their first roster moves of the off-season, re-signing young defenders Raphael Garcia & Yohan Le Bourhis, along with releasing Glenn Muenkat, Adam Mitter, & Josip Golubar.

5 of the more predictable moves tbh, but good to hear official word from the club!#CanPL

Interesting tidbit: out of the 5 picks Valour have had in #CanPL USports drafts, 4 have been British players with the exception being Dylan Carreiro.

Last season Lewis White🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 & Jack Campbell🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 were selected, while this year, Marcus Campanile🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 & Charlie Waters🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 were selected.

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

Valour pass up on drafting Winnipegger Caelan Budhoo with the 13th overall pick, and instead opt for Charlie Waters, who #CanPL predicted to go 1st overall!

Waters played in the Liverpool & Man United academies, and had 18 goals & 10 assists in 21 games for CBU this season.

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

Campanile played for Aberdeen’s youth side, and has played for the Foothills and KW United along with CBU capers. Plays in central midfield and has an eye for goal as well. This pick could signal the departures of a midfielder or two, but we will see! #CanPL

[Mahith Gamage @mahithgamage]

Valour have chosen Marcus Campanile with the 2nd overall pick in the #CanPL USports draft. Campanile wasn’t included in https://t.co/KxHZkKpwnG’s list of top USports prospects, nor was he included in their mock draft.

Campanile is 23, Scottish, and is drafted from Cape Breton.
