Hey Students! If you were unable to attend the most recent town hall addressing the new COVID-19 guidelines, you can check out these notes below. Senior Sophia Grestano ,@ssagrestano21, was very helpful in taking these notes and allowing them to be distributed to students.
We had the opportunity to host the 2019 Great Lakes Regional Conference. We would like to say thank you to everyone who helped plan, run, and also attended the event. Congrats to UW-Madison for placing 3rd, MSOE for 2nd, and to Trine University for winning the overall conference.
Join us in GEM 120 tonight to learn about applying for grad school and hear from Professors Henschen, Grossman, and R. Johnson about their experiences. Thanks to CEIE and NSBE for partnering with us on this event. There will be pizza!
Due to the number of exams tomorrow night and in general this week, there will not be a general meeting tomorrow, but be sure to mark your calendars for our grad school panel with professors next Monday at 6 before fall break frenzy sets in!
Tomorrow night there will be an interest meeting for steel bridge in the larger of the Fites conference rooms. There are a lot of manufacturing and general teamwork aspects to the competition in addition to the civil engineering design aspects, so there is something for everyone!
Join us in the small Fites Conference Room tonight at 7 to discuss this semester's ACI student competition which is going to be held in Las Vegas in just over a month! If you love concrete so much that one meeting isn't enough, remember the canoe interest meeting at 6 in 224!
Come out to Gellersen 224 tomorrow night to learn more about concrete canoe and hear some of our plans for the year. The stick around as there will be an ACI Interest Meeting at 7!
This cable-stayed bridge was designed by Lord Norman Foster and Michel Virlogeux. While it is the tallest bridge with one of its masts as tall as 343 meters, it is only the 24th highest (a measure of the bridge deck to the ground or water surface below).
Fun Fact:
George W. Bartholomew experimented with limestone and clay before manufactured cement was prevalent in the United States. He won a prize for achievement in engineering technology at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893

Meet the E-board:
@annaraimondi14 is our current Vice President and she is a rising sophomore. This summer Anna interned as an engineer technician with the Illinois department of transportation. Anna thinks the mint chocolate chip is the best flavor of ice cream.
Meet the E-Board:
@LaurenZeeb is our current President and she is a rising senior. She really loves planning events where members can learn more about the engineering profession. She recently spoke at an ITE/LTAP Transportation Seminar where she spoke of research she did.
Come join us tonight at 5:30pm in GEM 120 to hear Chris Pope and Brian Pierson from United Consulting to talk about an emergency bridge repair that they did. There will be pizza and we hope to see you all there!
