I don't consider those the vegetables I'm referring to, beans, corn, and potatoes are essentially nutrient storage for plants, squash is more like a fruit
I mean things like brocolli, spinach, brussel sprouts, garlic, cauliflower, cabbage, onions, and while there are some others, they aren't really relevant since they have become more tamed by selective growing
There isn't really a general thing I can say to cover every case
@midnightbaby79@ChunChiuLu@nypost they definitely have a taste for it after it's become such a staple part of their culture, since meat has historically been scarce for them! I wonder if they actually enjoy it though
I'm not talking about some emotional thing, I'm saying we instinctually knew its value because our body knows we needed it for improved survival odds
Emotions and how you feel is an evolution, things in nature typically taste good because you have evolved to seek it for nutritional reasons, things taste bitter as a warning to typically not eat it
We did evolve to digest meat, at least more than vegetables, a human's small intestine and teeth illustrate this
@Marsfps2@ChunChiuLu@nypost No argument here, the past was a desperate place, and survival meant eating anything you could get your hands on, even plants and seeds, but meat was what humans sought for maximal nutritional value
@JesahiasNathan@nypost why couldn't the perfect engineer design "evolution" so he can always have a dynamically changing system that best adapts to current needs
@DamarcusRichar2@ChunChiuLu@nypost yep, let the animals that evolved to process it do the work, and you get the easily bio-available nutrients from eating them
I don't understand why they think it's the best thing to do, you didn't evolve as a vegetarian, for most of history until now, vegetables were largely inedible or toxic for humans to eat, it's only recently until we started making them less so
So the consequences of eating vegetables long-term is still largely unexplored, and I'd imagine most scientific research is funded by biased sellers who want people to eat more vegetables as it's easier to grow than fruits, so you don't really know about the consequences, it's not mainstream
Whereas fruits being something a plant actually wants you to eat, not vegetables, vegetables are plants, thus their toxicity, no one believes this for some reason? And they ignore how herbivores and plants have been battling for millions of years, thus plants developing abilities like spikes, toxicity, anti-nutrients, etc.
People just forget these things, well at least Brian will likely explore this issue and eventually realize it was from his long-term high vegetable consumption
