It was tricky to draw people while they were moving, but Vincent wanted his subjects to look alive. He learned anatomy from books, but preferred to draw real-life, hard-working people. They got used to him always being around, thinking he was crazy for working in the rain. 🧹🌦️

Vincent's small studio in the psychiatric hospital in Saint-Remy (FR). 🪟 With over 30 vacant rooms, Vincent was allowed to use one as a workspace overlooking the garden. The second photo, taken in 1950, shows the window of the little room where Vincent had his studio. 📸
