Do encourage MSK nonop treatment protocols: weight loss, activity modification, NSAIDs, physiotherapy. If you want: Do download the non-op physio protocol for labral tears/FAI from https://t.co/NZFHINq8pi Do consider organizing a diagnositic/therapeutic injection.
69-85% of ASYMPTOMATIC adults have a 'labral tear' on MRI arthrogram. 93% if over 50 and 100% if moderate or worse arthritis. 'Labral tears' on MRI are more common in adults than not having a 'labral tear' on MRI. @PacificorthoLGH@BCOrthopods@DoctorsOfBC@CdnOrthoAssoc 1/n
Do not tell the patient they need surgery if they have a 'labral tear' on MRI. Do not tell the patient to stop physio if an MRI report says they have a 'labral tear'. The 'tear' will not get bigger with physiotherapy. The 'tear' is present in 69-100% of normal painfree adults 3/n
Hip dysplasia is the most common cause of hip osteoarthritis in adults. Osteoarthritis of the hip causes pain and stiffness and can make it hard to do everyday activities. Early detection and treatment is crucial to help prevent hip dysplasia related osteoarthritis.
