The NDP have managed to perhaps blow a seemingly unassailable lead. Affordability ever elusive. The embrace of market supply solutions has - as of yet - paid little dividend. May demotivate some. Could be a decisive issue in a razor thin race. That's on Eby. Turnout key imho.

If we talk about $ price per buildable sq foot as justification for building greater affordability via upzoning.

That reality being that way too many of the asset class cannot afford to finance or maintain their assets in a high rate environment and without consistently increasing land values.

Eby went all-in on upzoning the land of the Asset Class. All-in on enriching Asset Class in return for Asset Class (The Landed) building enough houses to drive down prices (yeah right!).

Now faced with the unpalatable rate-induced reality of the asset ponzi. Hence the plea.

NDP battling primarily for the Asset Class and Entrepreneurial Class at all levels of government.

Using concern for the working class as a smokescreen.

Protecting over-leveraged Asset owners and multi property entrepreneurs isn't going to lower rents for working renters.

The conflation of income and wealth is of course deliberate.

An honest wage for a hard weeks work is pretty much non-malleable.

The financial law is designed for those who can use / afford accountants. Or of course accountants.

Key hindrance to affordability in Van is the unshakable belief that the dirt in which we speculate, will appreciate. Its just not that case in most cities.

Fostered by design. Utter faith in 'system'

Vancouver. 1980 vs now. A very amazing urban development. Succesful in every way except one. Its no longer affordable. Adding density did not lead to affordability. The reverse happened. NA's most expensive housing.

115 units of social housing on West 12th near Granville. Excellent. It looks like finally we're getting social housing in more hoods.

Now for more municipalities.

Absolutely. Everywhere. Every hood in the city, every hood in every city, every municipality in the region. Its actually the only way if we're serious about real social provision for those in desperate need.

You don't achieve "affordability" by driving living conditions down to absolute squalor. That's what the "market" does when "houses services" reduced to just one area.

Beyond time the Province and Federal govt. invest *directly* in *City-wide* / *Province-wide* social housing.
