Vanderbilt Prof Monica Keith has published her research on hypertension in pregnancy in Women’s Health Issues journal.
Hypertension is associated with higher maternal illness and mortality among US Black women.

Keith's quantitative analysis of 6501 pregnancy outcomes looked at alternate pathways for this association, and found that "embodied stress rooted in the social environment" drives health disparities.
