Vehicle Edge Protection System is an articulating guardrail developed to address deaths and serious injuries resulting from falls from van roofs whilst loading.
@mikebrewer you like a classic mini. Any interest in a cracking little '67 van that could either advertise your business or suit a wheeler dealer episode?
@revslimiter@goodwoodrevival I don't suppose you sketched my old car 'Pandora' in the Madgwick cup paddock? Was fantastic to see it 'in the metal' finally so long after selling it. It is refreshing in a way to see something that meant so much, but you passed on, knowing that it was the right thing to do.
Another tragic accident highlighting the importance of safely securing loads before hitting the road. The article also mentions the previous accident when a customer was killed whilst loading timber onto his vehicle roof in their depot. https://t.co/0acX46vqBr
VEPS is capable of being fitted to any vehicle capable of being fitted with roof bars. So, we could save the future of the monarchy (If you like that sort of thing)
@revslimiter An improvement on the original where the overhang of the wings beyond the wheels always made it look like it was tottering over and over bodied. And shows old designs can be interpreted (very) well for the modern day.
Patent renewal done for another year - IP still actively for sale, if any businesses in the fall prevention / LCV accessory sector want to get ahead of the field, and prove that Safety is more than a claim, but an approach, a commitment
50 years ago today, The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 came into force.
The Act transformed the workplace in Great Britain.
Resulting in far fewer people killed, injured, or made ill by work activity.
Ever feel you are fighting a war single handed? Talking sense when those around pop their fingers in their ears? Safety is a good selling point, but only sometimes, it seems..... Ah well, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. Wouldn't they?https://t.co/NU9nApTBtr
8 years on, how many have made any changes? What has been learned? Are workers at any less risk?
Firm fined £10,000 for worker’s van roof fall sparks safety warning https://t.co/XM3bgHKFBP
"looking for safety features when buying a new vehicle" How many fleet buyers just buy the same as last time when spec'ing a fleet? The law requires you to look to identify risks and improve. If only the suppliers played their part... Falls from vehicles (https://t.co/Ec1BZJ5uiX)
It's sad that nearly 20 years after the risk of falls from vans was highlighted at the launch of the Work at Height regs, industry still don't want to lead the change. #timeforchange
Today, is the 50th anniversary of The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 receiving Royal Assent.
The Act transformed the workplace in Great Britain.
Resulting in far fewer people are killed, injured, or made ill by work activity.
Worth remembering what prompted VEPS. The time for change has long since past, but still Falls from Height remain the biggest cause of workplace fatalities. When will the industry accept the (legal and moral) duty to lead change?
