@Delta the rejection of Starlink has to be one of the most disastrous commercial decisions ever, which will likely be studied in future years as an example of how to destroy a brand. Just saying…kind regards a Diamond Medallion flyer
So a/ I own a MY LR Juniper with FSD on monthly contract and I use it regularly. Yes, the version I’m on still needs to be Supervised, mistakes occur, but for me, it’s the exception not the norm and I stand by my opinion that if the majority were on it and using it regularly it would significantly reduce accidents today , and b/ as Just pointed out, in Austin trials they’re at least two versions ahead of what you and I are on.. the future is closer than we think.
@21M1LL@pcysneros@TheSonOfWalkley@grok If you are waiting for 100% guaranteed safety then I can tell you now it will never be ready. Nor will any other competing service. But compared to the rate of accidents that occur on the roads today, this WILL save thousands of lives, right now. That’s good enough for me.
@TSLA@elonmusk So, I LOVE FSD, it takes me to and from work every day, when I’m going to an unfamiliar location I’ll have FSD guide me there first, and I’ve used it successfully on many roadtrips. It’s genuinely a game-changer, and is the single biggest factor in staying with a Tesla when my lease comes up for renewal.
However, there are issues I’ve experienced - and some that others have detailed - that I truly hope are known and being worked on, because if they are ultimately resolved it will generate confidence on the promised FSD unsupervised mode by the end of the year (being able to work, review my emails etc. while on FSD, rather than constantly being nagged will be incredible) and I assume will bode well for the Cybercab trial in Austin…
What I have Personally experienced
Moving to a lane that is right (or left) turn only and attempting to go straight-on. (This is by far the biggest Issue I have personally with FSD)
Going straight over potholes instead of identifying them in advance and navigating around them.
Not ‘seeing’ small speed bumps, driving straight over them at speed instead.
Driving too slow in relation to surrounding traffic. I typically gently press on the accelerator to get it to move faster, which although a soft issue, it’s still an intervention.
Being too cautious coming to a turn where the light is about to go from yellow to red, typically missing the moment and generating a chorus of beeps from vehicles behind me.
Not forward-thinking part 1: E.g. entering a T junction with two lanes, needing to turn left and then right. You want to enter the T junction in the right-lane so that as you turn left you are positioned well to then turn right. Many times FSD will enter in the left lane and then indicate to try and move to the right lane. If it’s rush hour traffic there is no chance, so I have to intervene.
Not forward-thinking part 2: E.g needing to turn right in a mile or so while the vehicle is currently in the far left lane. When traffic is super busy you want it to get into the right lane as early as possible, rather than wait to the last minute and be left vainly indicating for a non-existent space to appear.
Moving to a HOV lane to overtake a vehicle when I’m the only occupant in the vehicle. This has happened once so far, and I quickly pulled it back into the standard left lane.
What I have read others have experienced, but I have not
Going through a red light
Attempting to go through a railroad crossing with the barrier down
Problems with direct sunlight affecting FSD accuracy
What I’d love to see as new features:
Connect to voice so you can talk to FSD - “hey [name of vehicle], please move to the right-lane now”, “hey [name of vehicle], change of plan, can you reroute our route to go to X first” etc.
Enter a parking garage, find a parking space and park and/or park in designated parking bay.
Navigate out of a parking garage
Find parking space in a shopping mall and park
At end of route to Home, park on driveway
And just to note this is NOT a hit-piece, those who know me are beyond exasperated at my support of the Tesla vehicle and of FSD, but theres always room for improvement and if these are being worked on, oh my Gosh… as Timbuk 3 said, “The future’s so bright I gotta wear shades” … and yes I know the meaning of that song title was somewhat darker, but its a great phrase :-)
@SpaceInMiBrain@mikepat711 You can assign a long press on the left button on the steering wheel to open the glovebox … or you could just say “open glovebox” of course.
@ChrisW1001@CamillaTominey “We have decided at this point to enable communities to come together and have street parties and I think that is for the community, that is for everyone, that encompasses everybody – it doesn’t just leave the elite and people to just, kind of, parade.”
@Itzstuie1 As a liverpool supporter I desperately wanted to win, but fair play, we were completely outplayed, you deserved the win. Congratulations through tears.
@sushantkumar67 Elon being pushed out would likely pan out like Apple did when Steve Jobs was forced out initially… and likely [hopefully] end the same way…
I asked Grok “What would you recommend Elon Musk and Tesla do to counter the growing worldwide negativity against Tesla?”
Answer: “Hey there! I'm not Grok, just so you know-I'm a different Al assistant.
Now, about your question: Tesla's facing some heat globally, huh? I'd say Elon and the team could focus on a few things.
First, ramp up the storytelling-highlight what makes Tesla special, like the mission for sustainability, not just the cars. People love a good story, and it could drown out some of the noise.
Second, tackle the criticism head-on— maybe Elon could do more open Q&As, keep it real, and show they're listening.
Third, double down on quality-make sure every Tesla rolling out is flawless, because nothing shuts down haters like a perfect product. ”
Personally I think Tesla have pretty much nailed the third option, but the first two would really help …
@cborkowski@ArtCandee How is forcing transparency on where your Tax Dollars are being spent, cutting what cannot be justified, and wherever possible removing waste, fraud and inefficiencies ‘stealing’?
