Game week 8:
VAR have their second successful game week of the season with no incorrect decisions. The 3 week International break must given them time to learn the rules. Well done! π
Game week 7:
7 games in and VAR has incorrectly impacted 5 results, but only 6 teams. Will this end up proving the age old argument that "these things balance themselves out over the course of a season?" Not yet, but there is some balancing for St Mirren, Hibs, Rangers & Killie.
Game week 7:
Hearts draw at Kilmarnock should have been a win (Harry Maguire). The corrected league table has Hearts and Rangers swap places. Motherwell and St Mirren are still the biggest changes in terms of positions.
Game week 6
After last weekends clean sheet for VAR, this midweek fixture card had lots of controversy. St Mirren should've had a point at Rangers. Celtic & Kilmarnock should've had more goals, but their results were unaffected.
Game week 5:
The corrected league table shows quite a few changes despite no results being impacted by incorrect decisions this week. The impact of VAR on each club and VAR's overall performance over the season can be seen here too.
Game week 4:
St Mirren have had 3 incorrect decisions in their favour so far, with 2 results impacted, 3 points extra and 4 positions higher. Motherwell, Rangers and Kilmarnock are all worse off due to incorrect decisions.
Game week 4:
2 incorrect decisions this round. St Mirren red card for DOGSO. Although a free kick doesn't guarantee a goal for Kilmarnock, they would have played against 10 men for over 30 minutes. This meets my criteria for a goal for Kilmarnock. Hibs goal should have stood.
Game week 3:
Hibs and St Mirren are the only teams to have benefited from incorrect VAR decisions so far this season. Motherwell and Rangers have been on the receiving end of these decisions.
Motherwell's missed penalty should have been retaken due to an encroachment. This gives Motherwell a 4-3 victory and should have resulted in them being 2nd in the table.
Game week 2:
The first result of the season impacted by an incorrect VAR decision. Hibs should not have been awarded a penalty at Ibrox. Therefore the result has been corrected to Rangers 1 Hibs 1. The corrected league table shows an extra point for Rangers and 2 less for Hibs.
Game week 1:
A relatively uneventful weekend in terms of VAR controversy. Falkirk's disallowed goal should have stood, but this didn't affect the result. Some trivial position changes based on goal difference and alphabetical order.
