Hearty congratulations to Dr. Shah-E-Jahan Gulzar on an excellent Ph.D. thesis defense.
It has been a privilege to watch her grow into an independent and thoughtful scientist. This milestone reflects years of hard work and perseverance. Wishing the very best for the journey ahead
New #mBio minireview: an integrative view of #Mycobacterium#tuberculosis surface lipids as effectors at the host-pathogen interface shaping interaction, persistence, transmission, and drug tolerance. https://t.co/obGP8rjgif @VaradhaLab_NCBS#AMR
Happy to share our recent review on the role of Mtb cell surface lipids in modulating host processes. Thanks @mbiojournal for a smooth review process.

Our manuscript describing subcellular localisation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis inside the macrophages. Its result of hard work of Naveen Baid and Shivani Sahu besides lots of help from Amit Tuli, Mahak Sharma, Vardharajan and Sanjeev Khosla. https://t.co/X4bfwAsZC9
Preprint alert!
New work from our lab on the origins of intracellular pathogen phenotypic heterogeneity.
We show that :
Cell cycle-dependent variation in endocytosis drives phenotypic diversity in M. tb https://t.co/JHA1zGZCBb
Excellent collaboration with @shaon_chak
Excited to share our latest work in Molecular Biology of the Cell! We show how the M. tuberculosis lipid SL-1 activates the mechanosensitive channel TRPV4, setting off a signaling cascade that enhances lysosomal biogenesis and exocytosis in macrophages. 🧵https://t.co/voM7YKyEIa
🔍 Highlights from the study:
— SL-1 activates TRPV4, leading to Ca²⁺ influx
— Ca²⁺ triggers TFEB nuclear translocation, the master regulator of lysosome genes
— increased lysosome formation and enhanced lysosomal exocytosis
Host early endosome proteins are not exception to manipulation by Plasmodium EEF! What a journey! Thanks to @MariaMMota2@SjBaptista Sofia Marques @VanessaZuzarte @ZerialLab @VaradhaLab_ncbs Veronika Perschin and Christian Stigloher
Making the most out of the Jackfruit season, with a jackfruit cleaning lab competition. The parameters were,
1. Most number of intact fruits
2. Sweetness
3. Fastest time for cleaning
4. Tidying up! 😃😃
When its Jackfruit season, do we need a reason? @NCBS_Bangalore
📢We are thrilled to announce the 9th 'Lecture series in advanced biology' for undergraduates (virtual) this summer🤩

Small but mighty! This is a video of a killer T cell of the immune system destroying a monstrous ovarian cancer cell. I recently captured this data on a spinning disc confocal microscope.
Hello #PortfolioDay! I'm a molecular biologist and I take your scientific discoveries and turn them into colourful, creative illustrations ✨
