This message from our member is deeply distressing. It's incredibly unfair.
How can qualified individuals be deemed ineligible overnight?
This sudden decree, stripping qualified professionals of their eligibility, is a betrayal to those who've dedicated their lives to teaching.
How can we accept that years, even decades, of experience can be rendered worthless overnight?
This decision shows a callous disregard for the livelihoods and expertise of countless postgraduates.
People existing in the system deserve protection; they can't be declared ineligible and thrown out.
We call upon the @PMOIndia and the @MoHFW_INDIA to act immediately.
This injustice, born from the pride and prejudices of a few in medical education, must be corrected.
The pride and prejudices of a select few within the medical education system cannot be allowed to destroy the lives and livelihoods of many.
NMMTA extends greetings to everyone on the occasion of 75th Republic Day.
We hope the ministry @MoHFW_INDIA shall ensure justice with dignity to all the stakeholders in healthcare and medical education without undue favor or prejudice.
Jai Hind.

If any college or university denies examinership to the eligible teachers, contempt of court(s) proceedings may be initiated. Several high courts have already ruled on this matter.
The most significant dishonesty exhibited by the NMC is when it lies through its teeth.
While assuring that the existing faculty won't be affected, it is relentlessly working to the detriment of MSc/PhD teachers by modifying guidelines and releasing disparaging FAQs.
The intent is clear, and the mischief is obvious!
Why can't existing teachers in Pharmacology and Microbiology apply for new jobs or higher posts in other colleges or in other states?
Why has the NMC blocked their rights to pursue better prospects or working conditions elsewhere?
This is the denial of a fundamental right.
Respected @mansukhmandviya sir, NMC hasn't given you the full picture. It is vile and dishonest.
@MoHFW_INDIA@OfficeOf_MM@PMOIndia
NMMTA expresses its gratitude to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (@MoHFW_INDIA ) and the Honorable Minister @mansukhmandviya ji for addressing our concerns with the NMC.
However, we regret to highlight that the NMC has not been forthright with the minister and has bluffed to mislead him.
Please consider the following points:
1. The NMC has blatantly refused to adhere to a clear directive from the Health Ministry, constituting a direct violation of the NMC Act.
2. Edit: After submitting an affidavit in the Delhi High Court that is shall abide by the ministry's direction, NMC backtracked. This clearly indicates its biased and vindictive position.
3. The President of the UG board has been heard disparaging and undermining MSc/PhD teachers during online meetings with heads of medical institutions, which is indicative of a prejudiced mindset.
4. Numerous existing teachers are facing termination, demotion, denial of promotions, exclusion from roles, and are not being considered for re-appointment. They can't relocate or apply for new jobs anywhere. This is the ground reality. Existing teachers are indeed being affected.
5. Existing faculties are being denied examinership due to the discriminating CBME guidelines. Despite court orders and representations, the NMC has neither revised the FAQ nor issued a public notice on this matter.
6. Teachers with MSc/Ph.D. qualifications constitute a minute minority; the majority hold MBBS qualifications. Such feedback would naturally be against the competing MSc/Ph.D. teachers. Relying on feedback from such a skewed system is inherently biased, unscientific, and unethical.
7. Appeals filed in accordance with the NMC Act norms are not being addressed, constituting another violation of the NMC Act.
NMC's conduct towards non-MBBS teachers has been consistently dishonest, prejudiced, and vindictive. It spares no opportunity to belittle and harm this small community of educators.
Edit: The proposed phased reduction of 5% is meaningless. The recent percentage decrease implies that only one person can be appointed, rendering the reduction insignificant. We strongly urge the elimination of percentage-based criteria and advocate for the appointment of medical MSc/Ph.D. teachers whenever qualified medical teachers are unavailable. Let the medical education benefit from both the categories of teachers.
@PMOIndia@OfficeOf_MM
Over the years, more medical colleges have opened up, and more UG/PG seats have been added, but the quality of medical education has certainly deteriorated.
The only beneficiaries of this conundrum are the self-congratulating politicians, people who run medical institutions 'for-profit', and those individuals who merely want a medical UG/PG degree.
If things were bad under the MCI, they are worse under the NMC.
Morals, ethics, values, principles and altruism are just academic words with no practical relevance!!!
Teachers with medical MSc/PhD qualifications working in medical colleges are the ones most affected by various forms of discrimination imposed by the regulator - the NMC.
With relentless discrimination, one can only wonder when this academic apartheid will end. How far can 'pride and prejudice' be the guiding principles for policy-making?
We urge @MoHFW_INDIA to form a separate council for us. Why are we being forced to approach courts for what can be granted by the ministry? Where is the 'antyoday' in practice that this government boasts about? Where is natural justice? How can a group of prejudiced professionals dictate policies?

To obtain justice from our courts is a matter of chance, but one thing that is certain to be obtained is the next hearing date.
Our petition in the Delhi High Court against the NMC's arbitrary move has languished since 2020. There have been 30 listings and three bench changes so far.
As @narendramodi seeks a third term as @PMOIndia, he must address the long-pending reforms in the judiciary. Justice delayed is justice denied.
It is also distressing that instances of violations of the RTI Act and NMC Act by the NMC are going unchecked. The @MoHFW_INDIA is not inspiring in its role as a custodian and guardian of stakeholders in medical education and healthcare.
@OfficeOf_MM@OfficeOf_MM
If the MCI was unkind to teachers with medical MSc/PhD qualifications, the NMC has been even worse.
The practice of degree-based discrimination, also known as 'academic apartheid', has increased manyfold. The undergraduate board of the NMC has been pursuing an agenda of hate and discrimination against the so-called non-medical teachers.
Affected individuals believe these actions are driven by three factors: pride and prejudice, the provision of jobs at the expense of others and to fill the non-clinical PG seats.

2020 - 2023,
@MoHFW_INDIA , it's been four #Deepawali, people are waiting for your justice . You could've provided us a reason to #celebrate without #anxiety .
Another #kaalideepawali for MedicalMSc/PhD teachers.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
When the prejudiced @NMC_IND published a discriminatory guideline, preventing teachers with MSc/PhD qualifications from continuing as UG examiners, NMMTA filed its first appeal. The arrogant regulator neither acknowledged nor replied, which is a serious violation of the NMC Act.
Several writ petitions were filed in the High Courts of different states (Rajasthan, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka) with interim relief being granted in some of them.
In one of these cases, the NMC has submitted, 'It is informed that the effect of CBME Guidelines, 2023, will not disturb the old faculty. They will continue to remain eligible for becoming the examiner. The CBME Guidelines, 2023, shall be applicable to new appointments.'
If the NMC had clarified the same in response to NMMTA's appeal, the aggrieved teachers probably wouldn't have approached the courts.
In any case, the impugned guideline is still discriminatory and must be contested.
Meanwhile, it is deeply troubling that while the UG board is freely advancing its discriminatory agenda, the @MoHFW_INDIA remains a silent spectator. With willful violations of the NMC Act, there isn't much sanctity left.
@PMOIndia@narendramodi@OfficeOf_MM@mansukhmandviya
The irony is for every academic rights, one needs to go to court.
@NMC_IND deliberately caused chaos in the academia to sooth its children.
Kudos to the spirit of Medical MSc PhD faculties who fought legally challenging denial of examinership.

"Academic apartheid" is a term that refers to a system or practice of segregation or discrimination within an educational institution or system. It implies unequal access to educational opportunities, resources, and benefits for different groups, often resulting in marginalized or disadvantaged groups receiving an inferior treatment compared to more privileged groups. This term is typically used to highlight disparities and inequities within the educational system.
@NMC_IND is indeed practicing and promoting #AcademicApartheid by prescribing a host of discriminatory rules that selectively disentitle medical MSc/PhD teachers.
@Xpress_edex explores this shameful occurance in its article: https://t.co/vPv6ohDInV
There should be no place for any kind of apartheid in 21st century, certainly not in professional education. This must end!!!

The Vice President's @VPIndia remark has seemingly been made without a full understanding of the ground realities of how the Indian judiciary functions.
Cases often accumulate and linger for years, even decades, without resolution, causing continued suffering for the public due to a dysfunctional judiciary.
It is essential for the government to take action in reforming the judicial system, ensuring that people can access justice within a reasonable timeframe.
If the government is sensitive and empathetic to the concerns of the public, it can prevent people from having to approach the courts. The government should act promptly and decisively to address issues.
We are awaiting a proactive approach from @PMOIndia and @MoHFW_INDIA
When the regulatory body itself practices academic apartheid as a policy, it emboldens non-clinical medicos to aggressively participate in it at their level.
Our petition has been languishing in the Delhi High Court since 2020, thanks to the dysfunctional judicial system.
The government is more concerned with petty politics than with implementing reforms. We would like to remind the government of its commitment to raj dharm and antyoday.
We can only ask our members to stay hopeful.
@rashtrapatibhvn@PMOIndia@narendramodi@MoHFW_INDIA@OfficeOf_MM@mansukhmandviya
The matter is so serious that it had to be raised in the parliament. MCI-II (also known as NMC) has been a disaster much like its predecessor. When the composition & policies of the NMC itself is faulty, good results can't be expected. @PMOIndia@MoHFW_INDIA@NITIAayog
Free, free, free!!! Yet no takers!
Meritorious IMGs don't want to be 'non-clinical medicos', they all prefer clinical seats.
What is the pressing need for government, NMC and medical colleges to fill the non-clinical seats and create more non-clinical medicos?
Why the desperation?? This unnecessary desperation is harmful to those with parallel qualifications.
@NITIAayog@PMOIndia@MoHFW_INDIA
The Secretary of the National Medical Commission made a pompuous announcement about addressing grievances every week. However, we have not received a response or a hearing date for our own grievance despite reminder.
Similarly, the Director (Policy & Coordination) of NMC announced the appeals process in accordance with the NMC Act. Despite following the prescribed procedure for filing an appeal, we have received no acknowledgment or resolution from @NMC_IND.
We pose a critical question to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare @MoHFW_INDIA: Is this the kind of performance expected from the NMC? Has this regulatory body lived up to its promised standards? Some argue that the NMC is even worse than its predecessor, the MCI.
We implore the Prime Minister's Office @PMOIndia to take a closer look at the NMC's operations, consider the grievances against it, and take action to overhaul its structure and functioning. "Pride and prejudice" should not be the guiding principles of policymaking. It is never too late to acknowledge shortcomings and make the necessary improvements.
