I am writing this open letter as a concerned individual with deep ties to both the United States and Venezuela, to express my profound dismay and outrage over the recent appointment of Larry Daniel Devoe Márquez as the interim Attorney General of Venezuela following the resignation of Tarek Saab on February 25, 2026. This decision, orchestrated by Delcy Rodríguez and her intern regime, represents yet another blatant assault on judicial independence, human rights, and the rule of law in Venezuela.

Larry Daniel Devoe Márquez is a staunch Chavista lawyer who has been sanctioned by Canada since 2019 for his role in enabling human rights violations and corruption under the Maduro government.
His history includes defending the regime at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights against well-documented charges of repression, arbitrary detentions, and other abuses.
Far from being an impartial figure, Devoe Márquez maintains close personal and professional ties to key regime insiders, including Delcy Rodríguez herself and her brother Jorge Rodríguez. This appointment is not a step toward reform or accountability; it is a calculated move to consolidate power and shield the government from scrutiny, ensuring that the justice system remains a tool of oppression rather than a pillar of fairness.

By installing a loyalist like Devoe Márquez, the Rodriguez regime signals its unwavering commitment to impunity, further entrenching the cycle of corruption and human rights abuses that has devastated the country and driven millions into exile.

As a concerned citizen of USA born in Venezuela that advocate for democracy and human rights, I urge @usembassyve to condemn this appointment in the strongest terms possible.
The United States and the international community must not stand idly by while Venezuela's judiciary is further compromised. I call on you to advocate for support for independent investigations, and pressure on the regime to allow for genuine judicial reforms. The Venezuelan people deserve a justice system that protects them, not one that persecutes them.

This is a critical moment for Venezuela's future. Your voice and actions can make a difference in holding the Delcys interim regime accountable and fostering a path toward true democracy.
