Wakefield Girls golf hosted a qualifier at Jefferson District Golf in Falls Church 8/28. Meridian High and Robinson high each sent girls and many players shot some low scores. Sam, Eliana and Quinn all shot rounds that help them qualify for regionals.
Wakefield Golf returned to action on Tuesday 8/26 against Marshall at ANCC. Led by Phillip’s solid 38 and Eliana’s 42 Wakefield won a hard fought contest 169- 181. Miles continued his solid play, while Sam and Wyatt continue to post respectable rounds.
Wakefield golf had its annual golf fundraiser at East Potomac on a sunny Friday afternoon. Some great golf was on display and several parents turned in some impressive scores. The generosity of our Wakefield parents is always amazing and this years group continued that trend.
On a drizzly afternoon on the challenging front 9 at Hidden Creek CC, Wakefield came 1 stroke short in the match versus Marshall HS, losing 170 total 171. Phillip lead Wakefield with a solid 38, Ari posted a 41, Miles had a 45 and Tommy carded a 47. The best golf is still ahead
Wakefield golf was back in action on Wednesday 8/20 at East Potomac. The annual Arlington County Championship was held and great golf was on display. W&L shot an impressive 141 total to win the day. Wakefield posted a season low 149 for a third place finish.
Wakefield Golf participated at Laurel Hill Golf on Wednesday 8/13. Phillip made his first appearance and shot an outstanding 74, good for fifth best overall score. Miles shot a solid 81 that included an eagle 2 on the par four 7th hole, driving the green with his tee shot.
Wakefield golf was back in action at Army-Navy CC on Tuesday 8/12 in a tightly contested match against Herndon. Sam led Wakefield with a solid 41, Wyatt added a 44 and Dylan a 45. Wakefield will be back in action on Wednesday 8/13 at the Stallion Invitational at Laurel Hill.
Wakefield Golf hit the Links at Army-Navy CC in Fairfax on Wednesday 8/6 in the Wakefield Invitational. Wyatt led the way with an outstanding 83 that included a chip in for eagle. Eliana posted a solid 83 and Miles got his first action of the year posting a 84. Ari posted a 91.
Wakefield golf was at Stonewall Golf Club on Tuesday in the Cardinal Invitational. Ari was his consistent self posting a solid 87, Wyatt posted his first varsity score of 90 and Dylan and Tommy both posted 91’s. Wakefield will be back in action on Wednesday 8/6 at Army-Navy CC.
Wakefield Golf opened the 2025 season today at Bristow Manor in the Statesman Invitational. Eliana led the Warriors with an outstanding 81, Ari posted a solid 84, Wyatt posted a steady 85 and Dylan added a 90. Wakefield will be competing in the Cardinal Invitational on Tuesday.
The regionals got started today on a wet course at Bristow Manor. Tully had a solid round in difficult conditions and posted a strong 76. Beckett struggled early, but recovered to shoot a remarkable 35 on the back nine. Both young men are in contention for a spot in the states
Beckett & Tully have qualified for the regionals!! These senior leaders at Wakefield golf have helped make 2024 a memorable season. With visions of a state golf appearance still possible, Beckett & Tully will compete next week at Bristow Manor Golf in the regional championships
Wakefield wrapped up the district tournament at Herndon in a never ending rain storm with a total score (627.). The second day saw Tully(75) Phillip(76) and Beckett(77) all play well under tough conditions. Phillip was especially impressive rebounding from a tough day one start.
Wakefield golf is playing in the regionals this week at rain soaked Herndon Golf. Under difficult conditions Beckett(73) and Tully(78) helped lead Wakefield to a 3rd place finish after day one. Andrew(78) also overcame the tough conditions.
Wakefield golf had it last regular season practice at East Potomac Golf Friday 9/20. The seniors challenged the other classes to a nine hole match. Wakefield’s seniors have shown great improvement but the younger players are showing that the future for golf is bright.
Wakefield golf held an intra-squad match at Jefferson District Golf on Wednesday thanks to a generous donation from Winston’s Chimney Service. Senior, Jimmy Mazel won the opportunity to compete in the varsity match at Herndon on Thursday. The future looks bright for Wakefield.
Congrats to the Wakefield golf team as they defeated a solid McLean team 155-170. Wakefield was led by Beckett’s strong 35 and Phillip’s steady 36. Extremely good scores for a challenging Army- Navy Country Club course. Wakefield next will be at Herndon on Thursday.
Wakefield’s Golf team was back in action today at Westwood Country Club. Wakefield was able to win 158-178, led by strong performances from Beckett 36, and Phillip 39. Ryan B and Ari turned in their best rounds of the year posting a 41 and a 42.
Wakefield High School’s Girls Golf team hosted a qualifier today at Jefferson District Park. Special thanks to our friends at Winston’s Chimney Service for sponsoring. Sam Phipps (41) and Eliana Procida (37) both posted scores to qualify for the girls regionals later this year.
The tradition of the Arlington County Golf Championship continued today at East Potomac Golf Course. W&L played well and was able to win the County Championship, posting a 148, Wakefield was second posting a 156 and Yorktown finished third posting a 158.
