As always, Alyssa hits the nail right on the head. Just last week, an editor friend of mine reached out and we got to talking about this issue, and I said the following:

In my opinion, while I definitely think the author is at fault for disingenuously releasing a book without disclosing the use of AI (which, by her own admission, she was privy to her editor having used apparently, though I suspect this finger-pointing is more just to cover her own ass), I think more of the blame lies with Hachette. Because one of four things happened here:

1. They acquired a self-published title after seeing its massive success, and did not do their due diligence prior to releasing it under their name;

2. They knew AI was used all along and thought the public would be too stupid to notice until the reviews came in and proved them wrong;

3. Their editors were incapable of recognizing possible AI usage;

4. AI wasn’t used at all, and they’ve now destroyed an author’s career based on hearsay.

No matter how you cut it, that’s not a good look for one of the largest publishing houses in the world.

The Official Catholic Complement to the White House's 'America Prays' Campaign

This morning, September 8th, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, @CforCatholics and @USAYep were blessed to be with President Donald Trump in Washinton D.C.

The White House Office of Faith reached out to Catholics for Catholics to ask if we would come and help represent Catholics at their historic hearing on Religious Liberty.

President Trump announced at the hearing a new national campaign for prayer titled, “America Prays”. His administration has made the urgent call to all faith communities to ramp up the prayer for the USA as we prepare for the 250th Anniversary Celebration of the Country. The White House has listed on its website Catholics for Catholics as one of the main organizations they are partnering with to actively promote this powerful initiative.

In support of the White House’s “America Prays” initiative, we’re launching the Catholic complement to this with a campaign called “CATHOLIC PRAYER FOR AMERICA”. Our mission is to have thousands of Catholics across the nation praying at least one Patriotic Rosary for America. This prayer campaign will culminate in our much-anticipated CATHOLIC PRAYER FOR AMERICA GALA, which, as we announced last June, will take place March 19, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
