Description:

Prepare, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and related equipment during dialysis sessions.

Assess patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including vital signs, vascular access condition, weight, and overall clinical status.

Administer prescribed medications, anticoagulants, and fluids as per physician orders during dialysis.

Cannulate and decannulate arteriovenous fistulas, grafts, and central venous catheters using aseptic techniques.

Monitor for and promptly respond to dialysis-related complications such as hypotension, cramps, clotting, air embolism, or dialyzer reactions.

Educate patients and families on renal disease management, dialysis procedures, dietary restrictions, fluid control, and vascular access care.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment parameters, patient responses, and any adverse events in the electronic health record.

Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention protocols, water quality standards, and dialysis unit safety guidelines.

Collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, social workers, and other healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection control audits, and continuous education in renal nursing.
