I spoke with my Sikh Uber driver today, and it was an interesting conversation about politics and governance.
He was dissatisfied with India's current system and said he would prefer an American-style federal structure, a Japanese-style education system, European-style democracy, and a Pakistan-style landlord system. He also expressed support for Chinese economic reforms and had a favorable view of the Chinese government.
He was critical of President Trump, arguing that deportations are illegal with his understanding of the U.S. Constitution. At the same time, he felt that migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh should leave Punjab because, in his view, they are changing the state's demographics.
I found it interesting how these views were held together in the same conversation.
