I’m not going to argue with any of you about this but a vegan diet requires an amount of effort that is simply beyond what most people are willing or able to do and many people end up getting sick from deficiencies for just grabbing easy options bc they don’t what to spend ages on food prep every day. It’s not a good solution to the issue of factory farming. Lab grown meat is a better one.

The problem with how people talk about veganism is that they're constantly removing the animals from the conversation. Some of you get distracted and allow them to lead you into focusing on humanity. As most people are anthropocentric and think everything revolves around humans.

This is what modern animal agriculture also do, they use every single part of the animal for profit. It doesn't justify anything. Rituals and ceremonies are just there to make people feel better, nothing to do with the animal.

1- It is centering meat (carn=meat in latin.) and not all animal use (a vegetarian concept).

The essential ethical problem with meat and other forms of animal use is not that "it ruins the ecosystem". It is not an environmental sustainability issue. Animals are not natural resources that you can 'use responsibly'. Animals are not natural resources.

I have a Luke warm take: indigenous people around the world were and have been able to ethically consume meat for centuries. It is possible to eat meat and not ruin the ecosystem

When the topic is sexism, some center the interests of men.

When it's racism, they center white interests.

And when the topic is speciesism, they center human interests.

This is a how the 'dominant group' remains the default lens, even when discussing the rights of others.

@Thepastelbutch Well, that's not an answer to my point. The reason why talking against veganism is not a bystander position is because it is simply encouraging people to use animals as resources, by making people feel better as long as oppression is labelled sustainable and local.
