The orangutan is just extending a helping hand and "a helping hand" isn't the principle of humanity only. Often we see anything good and kind trait being associated to such "principles of humanity" and anything evil and cruel be animal-like.

The recent case in point is that of Baarack (the sheep). Colonialism, capitalism, patriarchy have created this ableist dependency politics in order to legitimize and continue the exploitation. The same ableist idea is also used against nonhuman animals in their exploitation.

Nonhuman animals are usually pushed into the "rabbit hole of dependency on humans for healthcare" through domestication and selective breeding, generating traits that constantly trouble them but economically benefit us.

Humans use this idea of dependency to legitimize and continue the said exploitation of nonhuman animals under the garb of "care" with the pretext of "they wouldn't survive if not for us". So much so that "eating nonhuman animals" is also considered a form of "saving them".
