@SReginasnc Got it — archive first, not a construction deliverable. For citation, are you locking a cleaned, georeferenced version (GNSS + registration report) as the official dataset, or also publishing a derived mesh/3DGS separately so the raw cloud stays the source of record?
@geoawesome_dgtl Classification is useful, but “act on” in AEC still means editable CAD/IFC — walls, floors, openings you can dimension and issue. Curious where you draw the line between a labeled cloud and geometry a drafter can actually keep working with.

Which check do you run before modeling starts: registration report, density holes, or both?
@yongyuanxi Looks strong on clean parts. On building scans the gap is usually messy MEP and timber that has to stay true to the cloud.
Do you keep the output parametric, or does it land as a dumb solid?
@Alpha10six Mesh-to-CAD is the easy demo. The hard part is getting members you can still edit after export (STEP/IFC), not a pretty solid.
Where does Astra break first for you — registration, feature fitting, or dirty topology?
@scantobimonline Speed only counts if QA is against the cloud. Curious how you flag deviation before the model leaves — RMS, section overlays, or both?
@southinstrument Slicing to 2D is still the default on a lot of jobs. The harder step is when you need real 3D members (timber/steel/MEP) that stay parametric after export.
@ztuniio Finding the LiDAR is the easy part. The handoff is registration, units, and getting geometry that is actually editable in CAD — not a mesh that only looks right.
@Bim_Boss Trust for a first pass, not for delivery. Planes and pipes are easy. Openings, steel connections and messy MEP still need a check against the cloud before it is CAD/IFC you can issue.
Blender is a mesh/DCC tool (model, render, animate).
