JD Vance’s attack on Microsoft was deeply disingenuous, and Microsoft’s response exposes the fundamental flaw in his argument.
Vance compared layoffs with H-1B filings as though every visa petition represented an American worker being replaced.
Here is what Microsoft actually said:
“Of the approximately 6,000 H-1B visa applications we submitted in the last fiscal year, 80% percent were to extend or change the status of existing Microsoft employees. These were not to hire new people. The remaining filings for new employees were for individuals already legally in the United States who decided to come work for us, and they equal only 1% of our U.S. workforce. They are not new arrivals to our country.”
An extension is not a new hire. A visa transfer is not evidence of an American losing a job. And an H-1B petition is not proof of displacement.
If you want to investigate actual fraud, investigate it. If you want to protect American workers, protect them.
But don’t manipulate immigration statistics to manufacture a scandal.
America deserves an immigration debate grounded in facts, not political theater dressed up as arithmetic.
@HumanDotGg@rizotochaud Je suis gaucher aussi mais j'ai déjà l'habitude d'utiliser mon téléphone de la main droite pour plein de raisons. Ca me semble pas troublant non plus.
All I want is a Sim City / City Skylines game but for building and managing a ski resort. There was one in 2003 called Ski Park Manager. It was atrocious, buggy and ugly as hell, but I had so much fun with it!
All the similar games I can find on Steam nowadays are abandoned in early release mode, clearly unfinished and missing tons of basic mechanics.
@mindinpanic@lmstudio I’d say privacy. Being on the company network is mainly to make it easy to configure for every computers, plus most machines can’t run very smart models.
I love @lmstudio, especially for its privacy.
I recently helped a client integrating WindowSill in his company. LM Studio was part of his requirement. Having a single, private, LLM server running on a private network is a top need for some companies who work with super sensitive data.
I ensured WindowSill can be deployed easily in such environment. Thanks to WindowSill Pro, you can remotely configure WindowSill on all your client machines so they all use the same LM Studio server you may run internally.
And yes, it also work with Ollama.
Below is an article describing how end-users can use LM Studio on their personal computers. It's as simple for enterprise customers, except the configuration is done on the online dashboard.

Happy Tuesday ! If you’re not using WindowSill with LM Studio for improved privacy, you’re doing something wrong !
