It's not all about Velo at VeloU.
Coach Sam explains how he quickly pulled the plug on a suboptimal high-intent throw day with Remote Athlete Dylan Frers, and turned it into a productive bullpen working on pitch shape and design.
Making the most of the days our remote athletes are on-site is a huge priority for our coaching staff.
The New York Mets have assigned OF Yohairo Cuevas to the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
Another VeloU athlete takes the next step. Congrats, Yohairo. 👏
BREAKING: RHP Gary Gill Hill is reportedly part of the return heading to the New York Mets in the Freddy Peralta trade, pending physicals.
According to reports, the Tampa Bay Rays will receive RHP Freddy Peralta, while the Mets will receive Gary Gill Hill, OF Aidan Smith, and 2B Emilien Pitre.
Fall ball could be the reason you’re hurt or underperforming next season.
At VeloU, we see it every year, athletes who keep playing into mid or late November don’t give themselves enough time to shut down and properly ramp back up. You need at least four weeks off, sometimes more, before you start your build-up. If that doesn’t happen until January, you’re racing the clock to be ready for early March. That’s a recipe for showing up underprepared.
Injury rates also spike at both the beginning and end of a season. Early in the season, it’s because the ramp-up was too short. Late in the season, it’s because the body is taxed and overworked. When you’re competing more than your body can handle, performance and health take a hit.
And if your numbers aren’t where you want them, it’s rarely because you didn’t play enough games. More often, it’s because you didn’t have enough time to get stronger, improve your power output, and address any physical limitations. Playing deep into the fall robs you of that opportunity.
If you want your best spring yet, train smarter this offseason. Use the fall to recover, build, and prepare, not just play more games.
Just started my first full day of remote training with @velouniversity!
On Tuesday I took a day trip to NY for an evaluation and got an in depth look at my mechanics mobility and strength profile. From there I got to see what areas I was strong in and some areas that have weaknesses.
We realized that my body has the ability to throw harder however my mechanics and T Spine mobility are limiting my potential and now I am focusing a lot of work to fix it up.
Here is some video I took of my first day with the new program:
