the tendency to treat fic writers/fandom artists with even a modicum of popularity like they’re public figures who are fair game to harass and publicly shit on is sick. these are not corporations or celebrities insulated from the consequences of that kind of cruelty
normies love larping being part of the fandom and you can recognize it by how they need to show off with it to the world, cheering at journalists involving ao3 business in their interviews with celebs, commenting about ships under their posts etc. you're all posers
The problem with callout culture is the fact that people normalize the idea of gathering shit for the purpose of maliciously damaging their reputation, and not actually protecting the people that were potentially hurt by them
some of you act like fanfics are some sort of content you're entitled to as if the author OWES you something and personally i find it insane.
you are NOT a customer you are just a passerby being blessed with the opportunity of being able to watch a piece of art in its' making
this ravenous consumption without community is also why authors are leaving the fanbase lol you can only write so fast and create so much, and when people don’t care about you or your work outside of the speed they can consume it, it ends up draining your passion to write
