Corporate South Africa socialised an entire generation into believing it was perfectly normal for a man to vanish from his family for 11 months of the year, buried in the mines and/or factories, only to reappear once during the festive season like a seasonal visitor.

Hostels in our townships were not just accommodation, they were the official infrastructure for this system: Warehouses for full-time workers and part-time fathers.

They deliberately engineered absent fathers and now we act shocked at the statistics.

Embracing fatherhood may never be easy for those who grew up without fathers. Many still think just providing money is the only role a father has to play.

May we become the generation that will change the narrative. 🇿🇦🙏🏾

My brother passed away on Friday and today is his birthday.
I can’t go home to be with my mum because we have to wait for the postmortem. She is 400km away and I have so many questions for God, some of the things he signs off on are so questionable 💔
