Notice how they gravitate towards endurance sports that basically only require grind/discipline (marathons, cycling, lifting, Ironmans) vs skill-based ones (golf, tennis, sailing, etc)
They want a clean effort → outcome relationship. If you train consistently, your 10k time, deadlift or HYROX time will usually improve linearly.
Golf and tennis are much more psychologically tough. You can practise for years and suddenly play worse. Progress is nonlinear, technique-sensitive, and often exposed directly against another person. You can’t simply brute-force your way into feeling competent.
Same for the modern high-agency / ambitious professionals looking for achievement outside work. As their careers become increasingly nonlinear and probabilistic (working twice as hard won’t guarantee you the promotion, building twice as good a product won’t guarantee anyone buys it), they increasingly pick sports where progress is linear-ish, quantifiable and attributable to effort. Basically the meritocracy they thought their career would be.

If Punjab Grill can do this, they all can. Can’t trust any. Northern Tadka, Copper Chimney, Haldiram, none. No more dineouts. India isn’t conducive to such lifestyles. Beyond tragic.

“The false ‘hard problem of consciousness’ assumes upfront that there exists a metaphysical gap between mind and body. This contradicts everything we have learned about nature.”
