Want to see us build our new RF / Wi-Fi audit cyberdeck? Commercially available tools are great, but for a small business starting out - the cost of entry can be a prohibitive. So we decided to build our own with our many years of RF and signal propagation knowledge.
Then we added the battery. Settled on a Talentcell 9000mAh unit. Since it outputs at 12v, it allows us to use power distribution rails to keep the resistance low. 1 DC5521 bulkhead provides outside the case charging. A usb c to 12v decoy cable used to allow backup power from Anker Prime in the event that the scan takes a long time.

Next step was design a baseplate for the bottom of the case. Something flat to mount items to. Designed a plate that is 10mm thick at the thickest point, and about 6mm at the thinnest. Added 4 holes for power supply hold downs.
Our first step was to get the right case. We wanted something that was big enough to house the components, but small enough to be portable. We settled on a Nanuk 910 case.
People say putting foil behind your router boosts signal. While it can reflect it, it usually just creates "interference noise." Don't MacGyver your WiFi—just place it correctly! #MythBusters#TechHacks

Your router is a tiny computer. Manufacturers release "Firmware" updates to fix bugs and boost security. Log in once a year and check—it’s like a free hardware upgrade! #TechTips#SoftwareUpdate
Well that wasn’t a fun way to spend a Saturday. Coming back from Vaughn, hit a rock or something, and lost all air pressure in one tire. Good thing the Tesla has dash cam. 6 hours later, we’re almost safe at home.
Walk to the farthest corner of your house. Can you still load a YouTube video? If not, you have a dead zone. Sometimes a simple 5-foot move of the router is all it takes to fix it. #HomeTech#WiFiSignal
Still using the router your ISP gave you 5 years ago? Technology moves fast. Upgrading to Wi-Fi 6 or 6E can double your speeds even if you don't change your internet plan. #WiFi6#SmartHome
Think hiding your WiFi name makes you safer? It actually doesn't! Hackers can still find it, and it can make your devices work harder to reconnect. Just use a strong password instead. #CyberSecurityTips#PrivacyFirst
Ever notice your phone or HomeKit cam sticks to a far-away AP with a weak signal, even when you're right under a stronger one? That's "sticky client" syndrome—worse with too many APs causing heavy overlap.
Fix: Lower TX power on APs (e.g., low/medium), enable features like BSS Transition or minimum RSSI, and space APs thoughtfully.

Hey Brant, Oxford, Haldimand & Norfolk—tech gremlins still haunting your setup? Slow Wi-Fi, glitchy printers, or that one possessed device?
