@Hobopoyo And if we approach it from the other way around, usages of cute probably don't map well to kawaii. Cute can mean something is ... Mischievous or clever. It has a distinctly childlike or youthful quality. We can say "don't get cute with me" which means don't try to be witty.

@Hobopoyo That's not a fair question because the meaning of that word does not map 1:1 to English. I would argue it means more like "charming" or "appealing" something that is on some level "attractive" as in you want to deal with it more.

@philiplord Question: why does the Across the Spiderverse streaming subtitles just say "speaks Spanish" when someone is speaking Spanish instead of providing the Spanish text or providing an English translation. A deaf person who speaks Spanish isn't allowed to participate?
