@AshYouLikeIt @BTSrespiratory @katy_buchan Great bunch of delegates- lots of discussion and reflection and a dream team to focus on waveforms with @AshYouLikeIt and @katy_buchan - thanks for inviting us @BTSrespiratory
I would really appreciate it if anyone working in sleep & ventilation and #respiratory in the #NHS could fill this survey out- it’s on correct NIV & CPAP inpatient documentation. It will only take 5mins to fill out. Thanks in advance #respisbest https://t.co/a8HZ2RSngN
@ZoeWilligen@UHS_Therapy You both did a brilliant job sharing the challenges of discharging this complex group. Well done - super sick presenting too never would guess it was your first time
@MinoSean@traceymains2 Absolutely- I teach carers to do this as part of daily care or for transfers as a way of making it routine. The same should be true for ventilator dependant on NIV.
Anyone with ALS who has a trach & ventilator, please make sure that you ALWAYS have an Ambu bag relatively close by.
Have your caregiver practice attaching & using it in case of ventilator failure.
My VOCSN ventilator failed yesterday & the MANY practice runs for my caregiver paid off.
It became a joke for my caregivers when I would ask them, what would you do if you suddenly saw me struggling to breathe while on the ventilator or if the ventilator fails? Once they said ambu bag, I would have them bring it & show me they can use it.
Ventilators can fail. I had a trilogy ventilator fail on me as well, but I could breathe on my own at the time.
Here is a YouTube video for anyone who is unfamiliar with using an Ambu bag : https://t.co/LATsoEpi3M
