What if the friend is the only realistic buyer available within the time frame he desperately needs the money?
And should the friend now buy it, things would turn south.
See...
Everyone has a limit to what they can let go financially.
And, for someone to need an amount as huge as selling a house, the money is a lot, and only a very rare friend would do that.
Also...
Some people do not have money right in their hands but have access to money. Whatever amount they need, they can easily pull it.
I have been in this difficult situation, but not my friend.
A supplier.
And I refused to buy the house because of this narrative.
The amount I offered to raise (even in millions) was way below what he needed.
Plus, he had many debts on him already.
So, if I give him the money to clear all his debts.
Where does he see the money to clear mine from?
Then the friendship you are trying to keep together ends up falling apart because he couldn't pay back.
It got to a time, this person was practically begging me to come buy the house...
Because he couldn't get anyone to buy it, and he was already drowning.
Everyone knows too, that people can't easily raise them a certain amount of money.
Would you blame me in this case if I bought the house?
Considering that I was the only person who could buy it as urgently as possible?
Does that make me a bad person?
Anyway...
This is a tough situation to be in.
But if we view life from all angles, maybe...
We will appreciate any opportunity we've got.
If you are someone who tries and risks a lot of things, you are likely to find many lucks along the line.
Tried something 5 years ago by chance.
And I have adopted it since then.
Once it's rainy season, sales always go down.
Then one day...
Just casual conversation with my manager at that time.
I gave him a target and incentivised it.
And everywhere became clear.
Sales didn't drop.
Yesterday, I did same thing again.
250k on the line for this rainy season.
But this is it...
I make the target so realistic.
Go through what we have done in the last 3 months.
Then tell the person to hit that same target for the next 3 months.
Most times, they don't know I know what I am doing.
