At the margins of #UNGA81, I participated in the High-Level Briefing of @BoardOfPeace taking stock of progress and discussing the way forward for Gaza.
In a highly complex environment, we share the same objective: peace and prosperity for Palestinians, security for Israel and greater regional stability.
The EU is delivering on our side through our #TeamGazaInitiative, with more than USD 1 billion mobilised for early recovery and the first two flagship projects moving forward.
Given the massive early recovery needs in Gaza, close coordination is essential. We are working with the US, regional and international partners, Israeli authorities and Palestinian institutions to create the conditions to deliver on the ground.
Our efforts must contribute to implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and ultimately to a just and lasting peace based on the Two-State Solution.
We took another step for the people of Gaza, joining forces with our @UN partners.
Together with @unicefchief and @alexanderdecroo, I signed the first two flagship projects under our #TeamGazaInitiative, worth €43 million.
💧 €37 million with @UNICEF to improve access to drinking water and reduce exposure to wastewater for around 1 million people.
♻️ €6 million with @UNDP to support waste collection, transfer and recycling.
These basic services are essential for people’s health and dignity.
And we are ready to do more. #TeamGaza brings together nearly €1 billion in early recovery projects.
Turning these commitments into results requires access and security on the ground.
We will continue working with our partners to give people in Gaza a perspective and hope for the future.
Today at #UNGA81, I announced the adoption of €505 million in new EU support for Lebanon for 2026–2027 under our 🇪🇺-🇱🇧 €1 billion package.
The funding will support essential services and the most vulnerable, advance reforms and economic recovery, strengthen security and border management, and support civil society.
Lebanon has taken important steps forward on reforms. We will continue to stand by the country and its people as they work towards recovery, stability and stronger institutions.
Day 1 at #UNGA81 🇺🇳
A full day of meetings, exchanges and connecting in New York.
Working with partners from across the Mediterranean and beyond - because the challenges we face are shared, and so must be our solutions.
Peace can never be taken for granted. It requires constant dialogue, cooperation and commitment - every single day.
On the #InternationalDayOfPeace, as I prepare to travel to New York for #UNGA81, we are reminded of the vital role of the @UN and effective multilateralism.
Especially in times of conflict and uncertainty, we need to work together - across borders and differences - to build and protect lasting peace, stability and prosperity for all.
I had a good conversation with EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean @dubravkasuica.
I updated her on the positive developments in Israel-Morocco relations and on the outcomes of last Wednesday’s trilateral meeting in New York. I also proposed advancing joint projects involving Israel, Morocco and the European Union.
We discussed progress on two important EU-led humanitarian projects in Gaza on waste water treatment, and waste disposal.
I thanked Commissioner Šuica for her cooperation and look forward to continuing to work together in her important role as Commissioner for the Mediterranean.
Spoke to 🇮🇱 @gidonsaar today.
We discussed 🇪🇺-🇮🇱 relations and our shared interest in security and stability across the Middle East. This includes a reformed and funcitioning Palestinian Authority.
On Gaza, ahead of #UNGA81, I focused on the urgent need to advance early recovery, building on the work of the #PalestineDonorGroup and the #TeamGazaInitiative.
Our continued cooperation is key to delivering early recovery projects on the ground.
We also spoke about expanding opportunities for triangular regional cooperation under the Pact for Mediterranean.
President @vonderleyen was very clear at today's #SOTEU: protecting our borders and fighting illegal migration also means working with our Mediterranean partners to create opportunities.
The new Mediterranean Youth Skills and Jobs Initiative goes exactly in this direction - investing in young people, skills, training and jobs so they can build their future at home. This is how we also tackle the root causes of illegal migration.
This approach is at the heart of our #PactfortheMediterranean: managing migration together while investing in people and opportunities on both shores.
And we are not starting from scratch.
Since 2021, we have invested over €500 million in skills and jobs across the region. We will build on this through the new Initiative.
With @JuanVivasLara today in Brussels, I expressed my full solidarity and of the Commission with the people of Ceuta following the extremely difficult events of this summer.
I commended the authorities, emergency services, civil society and citizens for managing an exceptional situation. Ceuta can count on European solidarity.
We discussed the importance of sustained cooperation between Spain, Morocco and the EU to strengthen border management, prevent dangerous illegal journeys, combat smuggling networks and ensure effective returns and reintegration, including for minors, in line with international law.
Constructive exchange with 🇲🇦 Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on the unacceptable situation in Ceuta.
Illegal migration, migrant smuggling and trafficking can only be addressed together.
I appreciate Morocco’s swift action, its close cooperation in support of 🇪🇸 and the prompt readmissions, in line with applicable law.
Morocco is a close and long-standing partner of the EU. We will continue working together on migration management and towards a deepened 🇪🇺-🇲🇦 Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership.
I am following closely the unacceptable situation in Ceuta.
Strong 🇪🇺-🇲🇦 cooperation is essential to fight migrant smuggling and trafficking networks.
I am engaging with our close partner Morocco to control the situation and deliver concrete results.
I welcome the agreement reached overnight on the disarmament of Hamas. This is a crucial step under the Gaza Peace Plan and can help open a new chapter for Gaza.
I thank everyone who worked tirelessly to make this possible: 🇺🇸 @realDonaldTrump, @nmladenov, as well as the mediators 🇪🇬 🇶🇦 🇹🇷.
Lasting peace, security and stability cannot be built on arms. They must be built on diplomacy, dialogue, trust and a shared commitment to a better future.
The 🇪🇺 is already doing its part.
Just a few weeks ago we convened the Team Gaza Initiative that gathered nearly 900 million Eur for early recovery in Gaza.
We also have a €1.6 billion support package for the Palestinian Authority, to reform and strengthen it.
We look forward to working with our international partners on next steps in bringing stability to the region.
Good to see you again, @nmladenov, following the second #PalestineDonorGroup meeting.
Our cooperation with the Palestinian Authority, @BoardOfPeace and Gaza's transitional structures is essential to advance early recovery and deliver tangible improvements for the Palestinian people.
On Monday, we demonstrated the international community's unwavering commitment. Now the next step is clear: we need access, Hamas disarmament, security and a clear governance framework to turn that commitment into action.
Our work must continue to be guided by one fundamental principle: One Gaza, One Palestine.
Looking forward to continuing our close cooperation.
Europe's demographic transformation is not a challenge for tomorrow. It is happening now.
Our new #DemographyReport makes one thing clear: the greatest risk is failing to prepare for demographic change.
That is why demography must become a political priority across Europe.
Next year, we will convene the first #EuropeanDemographyForum to bring together policymakers, researchers and stakeholders to turn evidence into action.
💡 A European Agency for Demography can bridge science and policymaking. I am glad to see more governments give demography greater political visibility through dedicated ministerial portfolios.
We need to shift the narrative. We need to seize the opportunity to address this together.
The EU steps up international support for Palestinians.
The Team Gaza Initiative brings almost €900 million in pledges from 🇪🇺🇪🇸🇩🇰🇬🇧🇩🇪🇳🇴🇫🇮🇮🇹🇳🇱🇫🇷🇯🇵🇨🇭🇸🇪🇧🇪 @EIB@WorldBankGroup for early recovery, restoring essential services and improving the daily lives of Palestinians.

The European Union remains the largest supporter of the Palestinian people. As we deliver our €1.6 billion support package, today we once again reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening and better coordinating international support.
Through our secure financial mechanism #PEGASE, in 2026-2027, the EU has committed €310 million to support the Palestine Authority. Since the first meeting of the #PalestineDonorGroup, our 🇪🇺 partners [🇪🇸 🇩🇰 🇨🇾 🇮🇪 🇬🇷 🇵🇹 🇮🇹 🇳🇱 🇫🇷 🇨🇭 🇧🇪] have mobilised an additional €41.7 million.
Despite extraordinary political and financial pressures, the Palestinian Authority has continued to advance its reform agenda, strengthening governance, transparency and public financial management.
Today, I am pleased to announce the launch of the #TeamGazaInitiative, bringing together the European Union and like-minded partners behind a common effort for Gaza's early recovery.
Together, we [🇪🇸 🇩🇰 🇬🇧 🇩🇪 🇳🇴 🇫🇮 🇮🇹 🇳🇱 🇫🇷 🇯🇵 🇨🇭 🇸🇪 🇧🇪 and @WorldBankGroup] have gathered a preliminary early recovery package worth nearly €900 million, including a proposed €257 million from the @EU_Commission and @EIB.
#TeamGazaInitiative will focus on:
✅ restoring essential services,
✅ rehabilitating critical infrastructure
✅ strengthening governance in Gaza.
