To get the economic benefits of low-skilled immigration, you need restrictive welfare and a low minimum wage. Otherwise, you're just importing a cost centre.

This is extremely obvious and why countries like Singapore are strict about who gets benefits and who comes in.

Of course, the UK has basically done the opposite to this.

Where the fuck was the music industry’s big brave defence of artistic freedom when I got arrested, blacklisted and deplatformed for saying a woman is an adult human female?? Same when they piled on @roisinmurphy over puberty blockers. Same when they hounded @MrWinMarshall out of his own band over a book. They were busy pouring petrol on the fire. Now Macklemore’s on Ed Sheeran’s tour banging on about Palestine and suddenly they’re all clutching their pearls about free speech and solidarity. Give over!! 😂 Funny how the principle only turns up once the approved sacred cow slogan is on the setlist. The rest of the time they’re first in the queue with the matches!!

@BradfemlyWalsh It's particularly egregious to hear from people I know because they know that I knew Ed. They've heard me talk about what a stand up guy he is. But no, they're jumping on the "he didn't express the correct opinion" bandwagon and showing just how brainwashed they are.

Freedom of speech isn't absolute unless you're asking for true anarchy. If you care about decency and rules then of course that means there are things that are, and are not, acceptable. That's the cornerstone of Western Civilisation.

@linmeitalks My best friend used to work for a social housing provider. This happened on an alarmingly regular basis. Along with multiple layers of subletting, refusal of access for repairs and tenants deliberately damaging the property and then demanding refurbishments.
