The stampede in Kolkata is extremely distressing. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected: PM @narendramodi
Shocking incident right in front of my Kanaka Nagar café RT nagar Bengaluru A group of 7–8 people brutally assaulted a girl and three boys it was so violent that the girl was bleeding from her mouth, and even her phone was smashed.
The reason? Just because they were smoking together.
People under the influence are crossing all limits. This is not okay. We need awareness, accountability, and safety for everyone from these hooks

A government officer fined a diamond trader Rs 425 crore. Some of the court cases he quoted to justify it did not exist. AI had made them up.
The trader's name is Vijay Ghanshyam Gadiya.
Customs in Surat accused him of declaring natural diamonds as lab grown diamonds. Lab grown diamonds pay much lower duty. If customs was right, it meant a huge amount of tax was dodged.
In October 2025, the Additional Commissioner of Customs in Surat passed the order. Penalty of about Rs 425.28 crore, one of the biggest you will ever see on one person.
He went to the Gujarat High Court. The High Court upheld the penalty.
Then his lawyers did something nobody had done before. They checked every judgment the officer had quoted in his order.
Some of those cases did not exist. Some citations were fake. And some real judgments were quoted for things they never said. It looked like the officer had asked an AI tool, and copied what it gave him.
On 2 September 2026, Justices Dipankar Datta and Sheel Nagu set aside the penalty and the High Court order. They wrote that AI may serve as training wheels, but giving it the pilot's seat would be both imprudent and dangerous. They also left it to his bosses to decide whether action should be taken against the officer.
The case is not over. A different officer will now hear it fresh and decide if the diamonds were declared wrongly.
Customs said his diamonds were not what he declared. Turns out the officer's judgments were not what he declared either.
That's why I keep saying danda is the only way forward. No amount of education or waiting for culture to change will work without enforcement.

The Supreme Court is a working court. Some of us have matters to attend to on Monday, not slogans to shout. It's not a backdrop for your next political mobilisation. If you are there marching to protect the Constitution, a useful place to start is by ensuring access to justice b/c other people's hearings aren't collateral damage, no matter how inconvenient that may be for your optics. So whatever the protest, keep the access clear.
#BREAKING#SupremeCourt observes that the contempt petitioners, who alleged that authorities violated the Court directions by closing metro stations, have made out a "prima facie" case.
SC issues notice to MHA Secretary Govind Mohan IAS, Delhi Police Commissioner and DMRC Chairperson D Thara IAS.
SC asks them to file an affidavit and compliance report by October 13.
Supreme Court Sunday hearing: Key takeaways
#SupremeCourt directed that:
• Delhi Metro and railway services must operate normally. Restrictions are permissible only when justified under Article 19(2).
• Internet services must remain available in accordance with law, without affecting statutory powers to impose lawful restrictions.
• Movement of people and vehicles across Delhi must not be unnecessarily obstructed. Barricades must be reviewed immediately based on law-and-order and traffic requirements.
• No unlawful detention is permitted. Any detention must follow legally established procedure.
• Peaceful assemblies must be allowed in accordance with law, especially outside areas where prohibitory orders under Section 163 BNSS are in force.
• Any notice board announcing Section 163 restrictions near the Supreme Court must be removed, if still in place, to ensure unhindered access to the Supreme Court and other courts.
• The Court recorded the assurance that lawyers, journalists and other professionals will not be obstructed in performing their duties.
• Notice was issued in the contempt proceedings alleging violation of the Court’s October 9 order. Authorities must file a compliance report by Tuesday, October 13, including details of Metro restrictions and railway advisories.
• Habeas corpus petitions alleging mass detentions and other connected matters will be heard with the main cases on October 13.
The Court said the State must explain the circumstances, manner and legal justification for the alleged detentions, observing that it is duty-bound under Article 32 to protect and enforce fundamental rights.

Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) moves Supreme Court under Article 32 challenging the October 10 police action against protesting lawyers near the Supreme Court.
The plea alleges illegal detention, manhandling of advocates, including women, and injuries to a lawyer. It also challenges the suspension of mobile internet and surveillance through body cameras and drones.
SCAORA seeks an independent, time-bound enquiry, preservation of CCTV and other footage, accountability of police personnel and safeguards protecting advocates' right to peaceful protest and professional functioning.

Mr. Musk, yes, no billionaire should dictate a nation’s policy - Indian or American.
India must welcome competition in satellite internet, from Indian and global providers, whoever offers the most practical and affordable last-mile solution for those in remote regions. In countries with lower per-capita incomes, satellite internet must be affordable too. High subscription fees and equipment costs risk putting it beyond the reach of ordinary households. Connectivity must bridge the digital divide, not create a new one.
India knows our networks and spectrum are strategic infrastructure, not merely commercial assets. India’s national security safeguards are non-negotiable.
Every country makes choices based on its own interests. Those in the West cannot preach free markets while practicing protectionism at home. USA imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to protect its domestic industry, just as India takes measures to protect its own domestic manufacturers. Both India and the US have restricted Huawei over security concerns. One cannot demand a level playing field from others only when it suits its own agenda.
Indians will internally debate, question and address our strengths and shortcomings as a democratic country.
Take BharatNet, India’s programme to bring broadband to village-level local bodies. We will question why, as the CAG’s 2026 audit report found, the programme is struggling to meet its original objectives. Why were only 33.2% of service-ready Gram Panchayats operational, despite ₹39,888 crore being spent? At the same time, we know to appreciate our telecom sector and regulations, which has made internet data among the world’s most affordable, bringing millions online.
India is a democracy, not a colony. We welcome the world, but we, the Indian people, will decide our own future - not Western vested interests, their double standards or any billionaire - Indian or American.
men are statistically more likely to be SA’d by another man than they are to be falsely accused by a woman and yet they cry over fake case because they actually want to spread misinformation that fake case is epidemic so they can commit crimes and get away with it by labelling it fake case
Times have changed. It is because of our forgiving nature, that India is facing these problems. Forgive, forgive, forgive, you have to draw a line somewhere. This court commuted death sentence in a case where father raped and murdered his elder daughter. Goes to jail on life imprisonment on the basis of the mother’s testimony. After some years the father comes out on parole and murders the mother in front of his younger daughter. On the younger daughter’s testimony, he’s given death sentence. And then death sentence is commuted to life sentence by the Supreme Court on the ground that he did not murder the younger child. That is why we say, our forgiving nature has to come to an end somewhere: Supreme Court Justice Dipankar Datta while hearing plea seeking premature release of a life convict whose death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment after a prolonged delay in deciding his mercy petition.
Men in qts asking her if she hates her father. Do they all hate their mothers if they choose father’s name? She is spot on to label it as an act of micro feminism, because why are all dickheads so pressed if it’s not
In much of Indian society, a womans sexuality is still treated as a measure of her familys honour. The vagina becomes a vessel of honour something whose purity supposedly determines her worth, marriageability and respectability.
the logic of rape culture is so grotesque: a woman can be raped and then be treated as impure as though the violation were something she acquired rather than something done to her. Some survivors are even treated as undesirable marriage partners because they have been sexually assaulted.
The common thread is the belief that a woman's body is a repository of family honour and that her sexual history determines her value.
But a woman's vagina is not a vessel of honour. Her body is not family property. Her sexual history is not a measure of her moral worth.
Rape does not make a woman impure. Sex does not make her impure. Other peoples opinions do not make her impure. The concept of female purity itself is the thing that deserves to be discarded. We all know kahan se concept of purity has originated so I am not gonna go into that.
In 2002, an IIT Kanpur civil engineer working as an IES officer wrote to Prime Minister Vajpayee, exposing corruption in the $10 billion Golden Quadrilateral Corridor - India's biggest highway project.
Designed to construct 14,000 km of 4-lane expressways connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, it stands as the modern bedrock of Indian infrastructure.
He left his letter to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) unsigned. Knowing the deadly stakes, Dubey attached his credentials on a separate sheet with an explicit instruction:
"Before moving the file, please remove the attachment containing my particulars to ensure secrecy."
But the PMO did not redact that information. It forwarded his complaint down the ministry chain with his identity attached. His name reached the very people he had exposed.
One year later, on his 31st birthday, Satyendra Dubey was shot dead outside Gaya railway station by the mafia.
They called it armed robbery. His family never believed it. The men who ran the murder racket were never touched, even after a CBI probe.
His death led to the Whistleblowers Protection Act in 2014. It was never brought into force, and it still doesn't protect a whistleblower's identity to this day.
His father, a poor sugar mill clerk with 7 kids, spent his entire life’s savings to raise an honest son who went to
@IITKanpur and then joined the IES to serve the nation.
On November 27, 2003, instead of celebrating Satyendra’s 31st birthday, that old man received his son’s bullet-riddled body in a wooden box, forced to weep over the casket of a hero he spent a lifetime raising for a country that wasn't brave enough to keep him alive.

My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.
