Happy Sendtember! (To anyone who is able to get out of their house and on to some rock somewhere, though if you're still locked down remember Ticktober is real – https://t.co/EKPMPzmeuL – and it is only a month away.)
Send safe.
This is cool. When asked about route reading and memorization, 16-year-old French #climbing phenom Oriane Bertone said, "My method to remember [the route] is identifying the two or three main rest points, and repeating the moves between them like a poem."
@duncan_macinnis Hey Duncan, Hywel Rowlands on behalf of the VCC has done some work to quantify the economic contribution of climbing in Western Vic (and to a lesser degree it includes some qualitative discussion) – https://t.co/RIuTDe0nCz
The draft management plan for climbing in Gariwerd/Grampians is pretty devastating plan for climbing; most world class cliffs remain closed, PV plans to close nearly every currently-open bouldering site, including Trackside, Valley of the Giants & (we think) the Bleachers.
@duncan_macinnis We don’t know of any official work that has been done to calculate financial impacts but anecdotally no internationals were coming even before COVID.
White chalk to be banned, bouldering mats only allowed in select areas, and a (free) permit system to be introduced. There are many outstanding assessments yet to be reported. There is a ten week “consultation” period.
There is some brilliant rock on Flinders Island, a small island off Tasmania, which is a small island off the big island of Australia. VL’s Simon Madden shot Simon Bischoff on his stonkingly good route Firetail on Flinders Island. https://t.co/nbPd2gqP0d
