@Risky_4_Bisky It speaks to BHVR's understanding of this game that they looked at 1.5 seconds of blind on a Survivor after the Killer got blinded/stunned and though "WHOA this is SUPER strong! We have to make it a hex or it'll be OP!"
I get this even if I don't agree. Even though I typically enjoy parrying in, I can see how it feels it's being overused. I do think that, generally, parrying should be ONE of my options, not the only one. I enjoy parrying, but I enjoy having options even more.
You have to remember that the average Survivor is bad at the game, has little to no experience with Killer and is all but clueless about the game's design, balance, etc. These are the same people who will get unhooked, run into the killer then cry about tunneling, or still can't open Pinhead's box without getting chained 5 years later.
Just look at this response. Any time you question why they can't figure out that something is busted or unbalanced, remember that this was shat out of the brain of your average Survivor main. https://t.co/nVGKs6Eq7L
I finally made it to WAFFLE HOUSE.
The staff are always friendly, and when I asked if they would sell me a menu, they sold me one for $5.
Next time, I’ll be back at 3 a.m. for fight time.

Seeing a good bit of whining but I'm loving this DBD cabin reveal thing. Obviously very slow burn and subtle but that's my jam. People crying about being bored; just go to bed and get the reveal later.
IMO it's because he truly thought DSP was his friend, despite all the signs that he was just being used. He knew the "real" DSP and legit felt sorry for him, buying into the BS that all the hate was manufactured, overblown or long past.
He was blinded by his past enjoyment of DSP and too close to see the truth that was obvious to everyone else.
@KingjadVCMP@ethanchaphi@jtlats2 There's only so much I could take.
Why now? Because of his comment, so fuck it. I don't care what people think of the things I reported/did for him.
What am I hoping to achieve? Nothing, I'm laying out my cards for all to see.
I gotta ask; Why did you do this for (mostly) free for so long? I get that you liked him both as a content creator and as a person, but did you not see he was mostly ignoring you whenever you talked about anything that wasn't centered on his channel? Were you hoping to break through and be a true friend with him? Or did you think you already were?
I've not read all of your latest logs but you sometimes did criticize him about his attitude and actions, which he usually barely addressed or ignored completely. Did you not see those as red flags or were you rationalizing them as one-offs and not truly indicative of his character?
God help me I read all of it. I really need to prioritize my time better.
My takeaways - This assume Darziak did not delete or edit anything outside of personal identifying info or the like:
- From what I can tell, Darziak did most/all of DSP's artwork and clip editing, at least in the 2023-2024 timeframe. I BELIEVE this includes the DSP Classics stuff, tho I'm unsure as my brain was rotting by the end
- Darziak was also helping Phil a lot on the tech support side for his PCs, OBS, capture cards, etc.
- DSP was not paying Darziak (barring $10 once). However, DSP did offer to pay him once or twice, and Darziak didn't take him up on the offer.
- DSP did seem genuinely thankful for the many hours of work Darziak was doing.
- Darziak would often try to speak to DSP about things outside of the channel or detractors, assumedly to just have a regular conversation. More often then not, DSP would give him short "Oh that's weird/interesting/dumb" responses or ignore it all together.
- I don't think DSP ever initiated a conversation w/Darziak that wasn't about the channel or detractors, barring initially when he was asking where Darziak had been and if he was OK.
- Darziak, even though he fully bought into the "Those mean old lying detractors" schtick, actually would bring up times he thought DSP was in the wrong from time to time. DSP would usually address these points (and even tell Darziak he was OK w/him bringing up those things) but those convos were usually very short; 2-3 sentences. Sometimes DSP ignored the critique outright.
- Whenever Darziak would being up the latest thing Phil was getting crap for, DSP would deflect with his typical responses; "I don't care," "I ignore it", "Everyone who believes that is an idiot", "out of context", etc.
- He was giving DSP tips about the games he was streaming. It was somewhat frequent but not what I'd call extreme handholding. Like, he wasn't telling him how to go find the most OP weapons, how to beat bosses, etc.
- Darziak has an unhealthy obsession with hating Elon Musk.
Overall, IMO, Darziak came off as someone who genuinely likes DSP both as a content creator and a person. He even says DSP's vids helped him get through some tough times in his life. Yes, I know it's cliche but I have no reason to disbelieve him.
Darziak also comes off as someone who really wanted to be a friend to DSP. He repeatedly attempted to have conversations with Phil that weren't about Phil's channel, despite those convos never going anywhere. Him refusing pay and working for free maybe were him hoping that, some day, Phil would be his friend, and not just someone he made content for.
Attempting to put biases aside, Phil comes off as someone who IS appreciative of the work Darziak does but has no real interest in him as a friend. He basically never started conversations with Darziak unless it was about his channel. DSP would often quickly change any conversation about something else back to being about the work Darziak was doing for his channel. There were some longer, non-channel based conversations but they were rare. To be fair to Phil, I could 100% understand not trusting anyone, given how, even in this case, this person he confided in ended up turning on him in some way.
OK, off to re-think what I'm doing with my life.
One of the worst part of the Subnautica 2 weapons discussion is the defenders very frequently are disingenuous about what's being asked for by most of us.
No, we don't want Uzi's or weapons of mass destruction.
No we don't want to wipe out every form of life.
No, we don't want to kill Leviathans on day 1.
No, we don't assume we are "ThE tOp Of tHe FoOd ChAiN" on day1.
Yes, we realize the games aren't FOCUSED on combat, even though it was an option that many players chose to participate in.
Yes, we know you can use flares/sonic gun to drive back attackers... for a short period of time.
What we want is to have at least basic weapons, for those weapons to actually work, and to be able to kill most creatures that are trying to kill us; you know, like every other survival game, INCLUDING the first 2 Subnauticas. Denying those things makes 0 sense in the game world and leads to immersion breaking and frustrating experiences, no engaging or tense ones.
That said, apparently they've said they will be adding ways to kill lower tier predators and will be tweaking aggression, so I'm looking forward to that.
Remember that many of us are arguing passionately about this because for us, Subnautica 2 is a great game even with this annoyance. There is a happy medium between giving the players BFGs and letting nature make you her bitch.
2 other things I noted:
- Darziak was offered to be paid 1-2 times but didn't accept.
- Darziak would often talk "at" Phil about various things but Phil would give short "That's weird/stupid/interesting" type answers or nothing at all. Phil only really talked to him either about work on the channel or detractor stuff (which was usually brought up by Darziak, TBF.)
@paulitaut1@Subnautica Thing is, the smaller predators aren't scary in the slightest. They are just obnoxious. I'm far more worried about getting lost and drowning than being killed by one.
@ZarisiaTwitch@Subnautica You don't need military training to kill a fish with a basic weapon. I've never been in combat with anything larger than a badger but I'm pretty sure I could figure out to put the pointy end into whatever is attacking me.
Usually it's because I'm getting resources there or exploring the area, esp things that take time like wreckage. I can chuck a flare or sonic blast them but they come back quickly. If I'm building a base I want to remove any hostile organisms.
Yes, if I'm just passing thru or picking up 1 item, I blast-and-go. Again, the vast majority are not asking for a rocket launcher so we can wipe everything that moves. We want the option to kill things when it makes sense for our goals.
Subnautica 2 is great. However, the decision to not give you tools to properly defend yourself is ridiculous. They dislike violence but include even more hostile organisms? Funny enough, these obnoxious fish have made me want to kill them even more. Also, you hate violence but yet you kill smaller fish for sustenance; hell, you can eat them alive!
I'm up too the "trench" and the only tools I have are a flare which works sometimes or the sonic gun. Both of these keep them off your back for a short time but they come back quickly. You just end up ignoring them and letting them bite you while you go about your business like a little bitch.
No, I don't want to kill EVERYTHING. Leviathans should be very hard or even impossible to kill and I'd never harm my crab bros. However, to not be able to fight back is illogical and immersion breaking.
Devs giving off this energy big time. "Yeah, that fish ripped my head off and ate my guts, but he's probably going to better use that energy than I would anyway so it's all good."
The developers of Subnautica 2 want to keep the game non-violent like the first one.
They want players to adapt and live with the ocean creatures instead of fighting or killing them with weapons. This core idea started years ago when studio founder Charlie Cleveland chose to leave guns out of the series after the Sandy Hook shooting.
He wanted the game to feel like peaceful exploration of nature rather than adding more violence to the world.
Even though fans from one country overwhelmingly asked for the chance to craft weapons in the sequel the team says this will be a repeated point of resistance.
One developer explained "I think it's a point of resistance that we'll get repeatedly while making the game though we feel strongly about it."
So players must instead use smart tools evasion and distraction to survive.
