The legendary creator for Garfield, Jim Davis turns 81 years old today! 🎉
For nearly five decades, Davis has entertained generations through Garfield, the lasagna-loving, Monday-hating orange cat who made his nationwide comic-strip debut in 1978 and became one of the world’s most recognizable cartoon characters.
His creation grew far beyond the original Garfield comic strip, reaching television through Garfield and Friends and the Emmy-winning special Garfield’s Halloween Adventure. Garfield later conquered the big screen through Garfield: The Movie and 2024’s The Garfield Movie.
Through comic strips, animated shows, television specials, films, and countless products, Jim Davis transformed one sarcastic orange cat into an enduring global icon.
Happy 81st Birthday to the legendary Jim Davis! 🎂

One year ago today, Hulk Hogan passed away on July 24, 2025 at age 71, following cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida.
Hogan headlined the first WrestleMania in 1985 and was central to professional wrestling's national expansion. He held six WWF Championships, including a first reign of more than four years, won consecutive Royal Rumbles in 1990 and 1991, and slammed Andre the Giant before a record crowd at WrestleMania III. His 1996 turn at Bash at the Beach, forming the New World Order with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, launched a second era-defining run that included six WCW World Heavyweight Championships, and his match with The Rock at WrestleMania X8 remains one of the most celebrated of the 2000s.
Hogan was a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, inducted individually in 2005 and with the nWo in 2020, and made his final WWE television appearance on Raw's Netflix debut in January 2025.

“Weird Al” Yankovic turned down a million-dollar offer to perform in Saudi Arabia because "I don’t need to take any amount of money if it makes me feel icky."
"I was invited to the Riyadh Comedy Festival, which is something that I obviously did not want to do. They offered me, I’m not going to say how much, but it was seven figures to do one show, which is way more than I’ve ever been offered in my life to do a show. But I just couldn’t be part of that. I’m not dissing anybody that took the money because I’m sure everybody that went there got a lot of money. I’m sure they had their own reasons and justifications for doing it. But I’m doing enough that I don’t need to take any amount of money if it makes me feel icky, and that kind of did.” (via TribLive)
