This week, the week of November 18th, is recognized as National Crash Responder Safety week.
As of late September, 28 first responders had been killed by vehicles including law enforcement, fire, EMS, DOT, and tow truck drivers. All of those people had families to go home to but didn't get to and ALL of those incidents were preventable.
The State of Colorado has a "Move-Over" law requiring drivers to slo down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles, tow-trucks, or highway maintenance when emergency lights are activated.
We unfortunately encounter close calls daily whether we're working on the side of a road or highway or responding to calls.
One is one too many.
@RealDaveMcCabe@Burrows4TX Will it hurt? Yes, but not for long and long lasting change can hurt. It’s not like Houston and the rest of them are going to dry up and wither away.
@RealDaveMcCabe@Burrows4TX Oh. Oh no. I’ve been called a “dipwad” whatever shall I do with my life? Let them leave. Loss of employment will drive voters to vote against the current policy makers. New policy makers, new policies, new businesses. Or new businesses that won’t blink at the policy will move in.
Bears are smart. Once humans teach them that cars and homes hold tasty rewards, bears will search for a way inside. They learn quickly how to open doors and windows. Then they will repeat the behavior even when now food is inside, as was the case in Woodland Park on Friday. 1/2
@SgtpineappleMN @anthonyvclark20 Small business, where I have no problem paying more, absolutely. My problem is with the corporations who's CEOs are making 350 times what workers are. 50 years ago, they were only making 15 times what workers made. If it had kept pace, min wage would be $24/hr.
