@lau56@realDonaldTrump Hitler was supported by German conservatives and major industrialists who thought they could control him. Soon after he became Chancellor, he used the Reichstag fire to suspend civil liberties. He made that permanent within a month.
“A great power war today would make all other current wars pale in comparison because of the weapons used and because of their tendency to spread. Millions would die. Human development would be set back by a generation.”
International politics is not a game.
Consider the warning from longtime Norwegian geopolitcs Professor Odd Arne Wested (@OAWested), who teaches at Yale and writes about international tensions in his recent book The Coming Storm:
…
Applebaum: Trump is using a specific language from the 1930s: “enemies within,” “enemies of the people,” migrants and political opponents as “vermin,” migrants “poisoning the blood” of Americans.
That language comes from Hitler, Stalin and the Stasi. 1/
The American people don’t want:
A golden ballroom
An arch de Trump
Paid insurrectionists
A Trump passage
A UFC arena on the W.H. grounds
What Americans want is universal healthcare, human rights, and justice for all the Epstein victims.
Bill Pulte is not an experienced national security professional.
He is a reckless political hack.
Under no circumstances can this guy be allowed to serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence.
"I support impeachment, full stop, of the president and his cabinet. It's the reason why I'm running. ... [Removing @realDonaldTrump] is the first thing we have to do before we can even think about getting to the other things, because he stands in the way, and he's making everything worse."
By supporting Ukraine, we deter aggression everywhere, combat authoritarianism and reaffirm that the United States does not abandon those who fight for freedom.
While some have been unwilling to stand up to Vladimir Putin, the Congress must.
Tonight, House Democrats did.
I asked Senate Republicans who among them thought Trump’s slush fund was a good idea. None replied and silence filled the chamber.
I then offered Republicans a chance to shut it down by voting for my amendment.
They chose not to. They are simply too scared of crossing this corrupt president.
For the first time since 2024, the House passes bipartisan legislation to send billions of dollars in new security assistance to help our democratic ally Ukraine fight against Putin’s bloody illegal war and imperial aggression. Let’s stand strong for democracy and freedom against the oligarchs and authoritarians.
I voted until 5 a.m. today to block Trump's $1.8 billion slush fund.
Your tax dollars should not be going to Jan. 6th rioters who went after officers.
And why give MORE money to ICE when they’re already bigger than the FBI? The extra 70B could instead fund yrs of health care!
ZELENSKYY: Unfortunately, Russian side is choosing war again. Everyone heard today's response. A weak response. Putin simply does not want to end the war.
I think this response disappointed many people around the world. Putin does not want to change anything, he does not want to acknowledge that his war is liked only by him and those who extract money from him.
They were all very telling today. This means there should be less money in Russia and more pressure on Russia. I thank everyone who helps us. I thank everyone who is with Ukraine, who wants a real peace.
