Thank you Brad Cook & to your team for welcoming Deb Summerhayes & me to Strathfield South HS this afternoon. Great to see your award winning agricultural plot & hear about the upcoming camp where students will learn how to grow potatoes, care for sheep & do some shearing!
@KevinHu33108272@Anncaro11 So true Kevin. I worked as SASS then decided to do Grad Dip Ed, kept working during the course. Best decision I’d ever made.
Strathfield South HS established their agricultural program 2 years ago & they’ve now received an @RAS_NSW Foundation Innovation in Schools award. Congratulations to our students & Brad Cook, principal & Adam Sharp, Head teacher who’ve been instrumental in setting up the program.
@SallyGearing So the Block has become no more than a p$&sing contest between ‘look at me’ bidders paying above market prices for houses by contestants who little more than project manager & buy $ 400 cushions
@aliceleung Those figures are crazy- we are teachers, for goodness sake! Hubby worked 38yrs in electricity industry & said their figures for physical injury never approached those levels
wages issue impacting current teachers but it’s also dissuading potential future teachers.Talking today with Yr 12 lad who would make a great teacher. He ruled it out as an option due to poor prospects of being able to afford to support himself & envisaged family. #honourthedeal
Another reason why the LNP government should not be returned. They can find $millions for private schools but have neglected public schools for over 10 years, which have seen an explosion of demountable classrooms under their watch. #MoreThanThanks https://t.co/ThUFc65aPs
@poppyshel @Anncaro11@aliceleung SDDs at the end of the year are like having battle practise the day after the war was fought and lost . Everyone is too exhausted for new tactics, you need time to bury the dead, tend to the wounded, reclaim land. Perfect for reflecting perhaps …but it’s not for new learning.
@aliceleung I’m sure I wouldn’t need to spend any time at all adjusting an ‘off the shelf’ lesson for mainstream class with 3 students on life skills, 1 on reduced outcomes, one functionally illiterate, 2 ADHD, remainder low lit/num and all of them being totally amazing kids 🤪
