Every child & young person should have equal opportunities to succeed in life with communication, friendships, education & later employment #SLCN#DLD#SLT#NHS
Do not insure your car with #HedgehogInsurance Appalling service! It’s 8 weeks since our car was stolen, the police closed the case 4 weeks ago. No communication updates, don’t return phone calls as promised, do not understand the delay in processing our claim?! #clairehazelhurst
Why do we need a diagnostic label such as #DevLangDis? Supports sharing info, empowering for individuals, supports self image, make general changes to the environment and helps us to build services #NAPLIC23@larchiba6
Stephen Parsons - SLTs have a professional responsibility to diagnose DLD. No other professionals diagnose this. If we don’t, no-one else will! We need to diagnose to raise awareness and advocacy for DLD. @NAPLIC@WordAware#NAPLIC23#DevLangDis
Speech and language therapy alone rarely provides the whole solution for a child with SLCN and equally there are children with SLCN who do not require direct contact with a speech and language therapist in order to progress. #collaboration#jointworking#childrensworkforce
I’d love to hear from SLTs/teachers regarding best practice for speech & language interventions in secondary schools. Would anyone be interested in joining a zoom meeting to share what is working well? #NAPLIC#DLD#SECONDARYSCHOOL#SLCN#SLT
@lilacCourt Yes it’s funny how different organisations have different protocol for consent. You wouldn’t be able to do an opt out consent referral to SLT or to be included in an intervention group...but yes agree getting forms back in a timely way is very difficult 🤦♀️
@lilacCourt I would want to know if my child was in an additional assessment /intervention group. I think it’s only polite & good practice to inform the child’s parents.
@Communicate2L Yes I’d like to hear more about secondary provision as it’s much harder incorporating targets with a wider range of teachers & support staff. The students are also harder to reach as they are more self conscious about additional support. It would be great to share tips & ideas
@OlulodeSarah@NAPLIC Hi Sarah I was trying to find the resources that you kindly shared at the last NAPLIC conference but couldn’t find them on the NAPLIC website. I wondered if you would be happy to share them? Thanks so much Vicky xx
