Ok. So as a self promoter I ABSOLUTELY suck. It’s so far from who I am as a human being. I’m more of a ‘cower in the corner’ kinda person. BUT. I’ve had some conversations recently which reminded me exactly why my fellow editors and I set about curating our book.
So I’m back! Promoting. Because aside from ours there are 23 life stories that deserve it!
So, if you would like to read what it’s like to be an autistic person navigating a career in health services (or navigating a career in general), please get a copy (or borrow, rent…
Stephen Fry, "The bullies have risen to the top"
"I call it fascism because that's what it is"
"It's a cult of power, and a cult of warrior worship, and a total contempt for the old world order"
"You have to remember the psychology of the bully at school"
"Bullies feast on the fears that they cause"
"Look at who Trump admires.. Putin's Russia.. Places moving towards fascism, nationalism, and they don't listen to people like Starmer"
"Starmer will be called a nice guy by Trump until he says something which expresses his support for Ukraine, something which he has to do, and then he'll be slapped down and Trump will say: I thought he was nasty"
"It's bullying, it's fascism, and we have to realign ourselves in recognition that this is no longer the proper world"
Well this is mildly terrifying! We’ve done it. It’s out there! So incredibly proud of all who contributed their stories, bared their souls and had the courage to be seen. I hope it helps just one person know they’re alone. And anything is possible 💖

I can't believe Monday is launch day! The moment all our beautiful, traumatic, awe-inspiring, empathy-inducing, cringeworthy and occasionally hilarious experiences of being an autistic mental health professional are laid bare.
What was I THINKING!

@DrMarianneTrent
So we did a thing. An autism book thing. Well, TBF I did very little. All the amazingness came from those who contributed their stories and experiences. Check it out. Or… you know… don’t. But just know you’re missing out 😆👌🏻📚💖🌈 #actuallyautistic#autisticMHprofessionals
@NikitaRachel_ That autistic level of prep which means you’ve basically been there and have greater knowledge than 44% of locals but yet never actually physically visited 🤣
Sounds amazing! If I thought it would be a) tolerable b) feasible child care wise and c) remotely productive… I’m there!
I was a doctor.
I lived and breathed medicine.
Then burnout & mental illness happened.
Upset & angry, I left medicine.
If you care about the #NHS,
And you plan to vote in the #GeneralElection
You NEED to know these 3 things.. 🧵
@dr_emina@VickyJervis@TeesPsych Echoing this, the number of trainees and newly qualified neurodivergent psychologists sharing experiences of discrimination during training is scary. We need to do something about it.
