Woodland Trust gathers 7,000 objections to plans to expand Gallagher’s Hermitage Quarry at Oaken Wood in Barming https://t.co/iWpzB8Ji7J

@Lucy_Lapwing As someone who loves nature- yes. As someone who works for a landowner- no(ish). Everyone should have access to nature but I’m picturing trampling in woodlands of delicate ground flora and sensitive wildlife being disturbed. How do you mitigate that with a right to roam?

[Bridget Fox @WTBridget]

We’re appalled by a proposal to extend Hermitage Quarry in Kent which could destroy at least 50 hectares of irreplaceable ancient woodland.

It is the biggest single development threat to ancient woodland in England for decades.

@Lucy_Lapwing An incredible find!🍄

I walked home from the train station yesterday and spotted swifts flying overhead. This morning I’m sat with my tea and can hear their screeching- run outside to see them soaring over our new home. PURE JOY🐦💙👏🏻

[Vicky Wander 🌳 @Vicky_Wander_]

[Vicky Wander 🌳 @Vicky_Wander_]

@treepilgrim I’m so sorry Martin. I’m glad you were able to be with Merlin when the time came. There’s nothing like the love a dog can give you and I’m sure he loved every moment of his life with you and your family. Sending love to all💚

[That Bird Guy! @JeffreyMWard]

BIRD TATTOO THREAD!?!?!?

Can I see everyone’s bird related tattoos in the comments?

[Vicky Wander 🌳 @Vicky_Wander_]

I wish all lecturers would have done this. The goal I worked towards my whole educational youth was to gain my degree in Zoology. I didn’t considered which career path I would take, how this could impact where I live and how much I earn.👇

And the Boscar (Bird Oscar) for best costume design goes to... golden plover chicks!

They've adapted to blend in amidst the moss of their breeding grounds in the Arctic tundra 🥸
