I’d say it depends on their mental state, which you have an idea of! There’s a huge difference between someone who genuinely can’t manage because they’re struggling, and someone who repeatedly refuses every reasonable opportunity to help themselves while expecting others to pick up the pieces! Seems you’ve gone above and beyond to help them. You can have compassion for someone’s circumstances without continuing to enable their behaviour
