Does anyone know what these legal reasons could be? Taylor Wimpey are paying to remediate & the work, due to start last May, still hasn't begun.
@LongHarbourLtd are getting a free upgrade to their building, so why are they and management agent @ScanlansLLP delaying?
@JamesMelville You can add shaft leaseholders to that list James. He said leasehold reform would be a top priority & they've done nothing. Millions of people trapped in worthless flats paying sky high service charges & he lied to us to get our vote. I'll never vote for them again.
Posted on our developments Facebook group. People here are in real trouble and @UKLabour aren't doing anything to help. You lied to us to get our votes @AngelaRayner@mtpennycook and that won't be forgotten.
If @UKLabour betray us over this there'll be a few million people including me (a life long Labour voter) who will never vote for them again @Keir_Starmer@mtpennycook
@guardian We found out we had safety problems in 2019. Our service charge has gone up massively since then and it's mostly building insurance. In 2019, before anyone knew about the issues, our insurance for 6 buildings was £33,820.00. This year it's £320,000.00.
Construction giant @BouyguesUK says there may have been an error made by a subcontractor. Design differed apparently to what they thought. Quite a big error it seems.
@richard_jm@LabourSJ@mtpennycook Ours has gone up again this year, it's absolutely scandalous isn't it?
Is your MA as enthusiastic as ours is at threatening legal action for non-payment with their legal fees added to your bill?
@LostInSW19 @Barrattplc I'll answer my own question: because governments depend on them to fulfill their house building targets and this gives the builders leverage to basically do what they like. @LiamHalligan is spot on when he calls the big four construction companies a cartel.
@LostInSW19 @Barrattplc A few miles from me @Barrattplc are building what can only be described as a small village; hundreds of new homes, crammed together and thrown up in months (as usual). Why can't they be made to fix defects in their previously built homes first before building new ones?
@jburnmurdoch This is a terrible tweet John. Lots of these new developments have flammable cladding and other issues like missing firebreaks, built by a rotten industry interested only in profits. Once the cladding gets removed we'll likely find out some (many?) will have structural defects.
Two years ago @TaylorWimpey announced that they would pay to fix building safety defects @Thedecksruncorn. Since then we have heard nothing and there are currently no plans to start. @michaelgove@lisanandy
"The majority have no timescale for when works will complete and only around 10% expect them to do so within the next 12 months. (...) 78.8% cannot remortgage despite banks stating their willingness to offer mortgages."

Our MA had secured building safety funds for the 3 buildings at our development that are >18m with original developer Taylor Wimpey agreeing to cover the costs for the 3 <18m buildings.
Why have @luhc now withdrawn their funding?
