“Our campaign will focus on major concerns of Nigerians and not on ethnicity or religion.“

MY ADDRESS TO MARK THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE 2027 PRESIDENTIAL AND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY CAMPAIGNS
21 August 2026
Dear Compatriots,
Members of the Press,
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,
Wednesday, 19 August 2026, marked the official start of the campaign period for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
There is no doubt that this is a defining moment for our democracy. This moment gives Nigerians the opportunity to assess the records, ideas, and plans of those seeking their mandate to lead their country at a time of grave uncertainty in our rapidly changing world.
I consider myself quite privileged to be one of those seeking your mandate to deal with these challenges facing our country.
I enter this contest with one firm conviction: Nigeria can work, and Nigeria must work.
Nigeria faces several serious challenges. Some of them are indeed of existential proportions.
According to the IMF, 63%, or over 140 million Nigerians, live at or below the national poverty line, while humanitarian agencies estimate that 35 million people will need food assistance during the 2026 lean season. About 3.6 million Nigerians remain internally displaced, largely because of conflict and insecurity. Each year, millions of young people enter the labour market, yet too many struggle to find productive opportunities. Weak infrastructure, unreliable power, insecurity, and the excessive cost of doing business continue to burden households and constrain enterprise.
These are more than statistics. They reflect the daily realities of Nigerian families, farmers, workers, students, and businesses.
Yet I do not believe Nigeria lacks the ability to overcome these challenges. We have the people, resources, market, talent, and enterprise. What we must do now is turn these strengths into security, productivity, and shared prosperity.
LEADERSHIP MUST DELIVER RESULTS
My successful private-sector experience, studies in institutions of repute on policy and business matters, and my service as Governor of Anambra State have shaped my understanding of public leadership. Government must manage resources responsibly, set clear priorities, and measure the outcomes of its decisions. Public office is not a reward; it is a responsibility to the people.
In Anambra, I prioritised the foundations of long-term development: education, healthcare, infrastructure, fiscal discipline, and institutional capacity. I do not present that record as perfect, but as an experience from which Nigerians can draw their own conclusions.
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso brings a different but complementary governing experience.
As Governor of Kano State, he focused strongly on education, technical training, scholarships, infrastructure, and human-capital development. His administration’s investments in education and skills showed an understanding that the people are a state’s most important long-term resource.
Our experiences are different, but our conclusion is the same: Nigeria must invest in its people and manage public resources with discipline.
BUILDING AN ECONOMY THAT WORKS
Nigeria needs more than reactive reforms. We must focus on the questions that matter:
Are Nigerians better off than they were four years ago? Can they afford food, education, and healthcare? Can businesses produce, expand, and create jobs? Can young people find productive work? Can farmers work safely and get their produce to market?

STATEMENT ON THE COMMENCEMENT OF POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS FOR THE 2027 PRESIDENTIAL AND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS.
My dear people of Delta North,
As campaigns for the 2027 general elections officially begin, I speak to you not merely as a candidate, but as a fellow Anioma Son who understands the moment before us.
Delta North stands at a crossroads. For too long, our politics has been shaped by familiar patterns, political calculations and the preservation of existing arrangements. I believe we can do better.
That is why, after careful consideration and in response to the calls from our people, I accepted the responsibility to contest for the Senate under the banner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC. The NDC formally cleared my candidacy for Delta North in July 2026.
But this election is bigger than one Senate seat.
It is about building a new political direction for Delta North and supporting all NDC candidates across our Senatorial District—for the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly while working with our NDC candidate for Governor of Delta State Deacon Chris Iyovwaye @dchrisiyovwaye.
At the national level, we have H.E. @PeterObi as our presidential candidate. I believe his appeal goes beyond political rhetoric. It is about prudence, order, simplicity, accountability and the responsible management of public resources. His record as Governor of Anambra State demonstrated that experience is not merely about eloquence; it is about what a person does with responsibility. His administration also received recognition for prudence and public-sector performance.
The coming together of the different political forces that now constitute the NDC, including the structures associated with the @OK2027movement, presents us with an opportunity to build something broader than individual ambitions: a political platform capable of winning and governing with purpose.
So, to the people of Delta North, I ask for your partnership.
Let us move from politics of dependency to politics of capacity.
From survival to purposeful representation.
From what has always been to what can be.
This is our moment.
This is our mission.
This is the #NewDirection.
VOTE NDC!
Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor O. Ochei, Esq., FNSE (V.O)
2027 NDC Candidate, Delta North Senatorial District.
I attended the strategic Town Hall Meeting organised by the @OK2027movement Delta State Chapter, in Asaba, alongside NDC candidates, leaders and stakeholders.
At the well-attended event, I emphasised the need for us to take the NDC beyond the major towns and into our villages, wards and hinterlands. Our people must know the name, symbol and identity of the party and understand the values for which we stand.
Our various support groups must also recognise that, while their individual structures are important, our collective objective must remain the same: building the NDC and securing victory at all levels in 2027.
I commend Comrade Favour Emerue, Convener of the event and Delta State Coordinator of the OK Movement, for his efforts in strengthening grassroots mobilisation and coordination.
I also saluted the courage expressed a few years ago, while assuring that those who have what it takes to defend the party's victory in 2027 have now joined them.
I was pleased to engage with @dchrisiyovwaye NDC Governorship Candidate; H.E. Senator @OvieOmoAgege CFR, Delta Central Senatorial District Candidate; and other elders, leaders and candidates of our great party.
We have a party to build, and we have elections to win.
Together, we will build. Together, we will win.

Today, I joined His Excellency, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, NDC candidate for Delta Central Senatorial District; Hon. Chief Christopher Ominimini Obiuwevbi, NDC candidate for Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency; and Hon. We listened to their concerns, discussed the future of Ughelli South, and reaffirmed our commitment to building a government that responds to the real needs of the people.
The impressive turnout and enthusiasm demonstrated that our people are ready for a new direction. They want leadership that listens, keeps its promises, creates opportunities, improves public services, and delivers development that reaches every community.
This campaign is not about individuals or empty political slogans. It is about building a strong grassroots movement capable of replacing years of disappointment with responsible leadership, practical solutions, and measurable progress.
We will continue taking our message of unity, hope, good governance, and development to every ward and community across Delta State. We will listen to the people, earn their trust, and work together to build a Delta State that serves everyone.
The movement is growing, the people are ready, and together, we will RESET DELTA.

@ndccommbureau@DSGovernment@Nigeria
Today, we had a harmonization meeting led by the Speaker emeritus of the Delta state House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei on how to harmonize Aniocha North and indeed Delta North for the benefit of our great party the NDC.
Present were the Aniocha North Candidate, Dr. Uzoma Awunor, All Morris Monye support group Ward leaders in Aniocha North and my good friend Peter Akah also visited.
We have harmonized. It’s time to mobilize NDC for all the polling units in Delta North.
Today, I hosted and mediated a final reconciliation between Dr. Uzoma Valentine Awunor, NDC Candidate for Aniocha North Constituency I, and Comrade Morris Monye @Morris_Monye, popular NDC Chieftain and contestant at the party's Aniocha North Constituency I primaries.
Both leaders came with their respective delegates, and we held a frank closed-door engagement focused on one thing: the unity and future of our party.
I am pleased that, at the end of the meeting, Comrade Morris Monye and his team pledged their commitment to working with Dr. Awunor and other stakeholders to strengthen the NDC and deliver victory in 2027.
This is the spirit we need across Delta North.
We have a party to build, and we have elections to win.
I also received the NDC Candidate for Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency Mr @Peter4Nigeria at my residence.
Together, we will reconcile, we will unite, and we will win.

ENGR. VICTOR OCHEI INTENSIFIES GRASSROOTS SENSITIZATION FOR THE NDC
The NDC Candidate for Delta North Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei (@VictorOOchei) and his entourage visited NDC Ward 9 in Okpanam, where they received a warm welcome from party leaders and stakeholders.
Among those present are Dr. Charles Chukwuedo, Hon. Ashinze Charthe les Obiodogwu, erstwhile OYO President Honandkolo, alongside the Ward Chairman and members of his executive.
The visit further underscores the growing grassroots engagement and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, as supporters rally behind Engr. Victor Ochei.
Recently, I met with members of the Coalition for Equity (Ukpe Anioma) in Ute-Ogbeje, Ika North-East LGA, under the leadership of Barr. Alex Ikpeazu, as part of my ongoing consultations and consensus-building across Delta North.
I appreciate the warm reception and our frank discussions on the future of Anioma and Delta North. We agreed that unity, equity, and purposeful leadership must remain the foundation of our collective progress.
I also emphasized the need to renew our mindset towards sustainable empowerment by embracing innovation, technology, and the opportunities of a changing world. As we approach 2027, our choice must be guided by competence, integrity, experience, and the proven capacity to deliver.

I thank Barr. Alex Ikpeazu and members of the Coalition for Equity for their support and encouragement. Together, we will chart a New Direction for Delta North.
@VictorOOchei
When aspiration is engineered by purpose and inspired by faith, even the harshest expressions of nature cannot deter the resolve to serve, unite, and build a better future for our people.
As the rains poured over Issele-Uku, so too did the resolve for liberation and purposeful service deepen in the hearts of our men, women, youths, and the elderly.
Our commitment to Delta North is not driven by convenience, but by an unwavering conviction to lead our people towards a New Direction.
