Die Begründung:

Aber den gibt es schon seit ich mich erinnere. Fast 60 Jahre.
Die Frage: "Warum wird dort nicht aufgeforstet?"
Weil es keine Stecklinge gibt.
Die gab es sogar zu Honeckers Zeiten. Genug. Obwohl es damals nicht viel gab.
Dafür gab oder gibt es jetzt den politischen Willen: "Windräder bauen. Aber nicht im Wald."
Seit dieser Zeit war ich nie wieder dort 😪.

The Klondike Gold Rush of 1896 is one of the purest natural experiments in spontaneous order you will ever study. George Carmack and his companions struck gold at Bonanza Creek on August 16, 1896, and within two years over 100,000 people had attempted the brutal journey to Dawson City in Canada's Yukon Territory. No government planned this. No bureaucrat allocated the labor. The price signal embedded in gold did what prices always do: it coordinated the decisions of tens of thousands of strangers without a single committee meeting.

What actually made the rush function was a system of private property rights that miners invented and enforced themselves before Canadian authorities had any meaningful presence in the region. Miners formed local committees, established claim registration systems, and created enforceable rules about staking dimensions (typically 500 feet along a creek). Disputes got settled through peer arbitration. Men who cheated found themselves expelled from the community and effectively blacklisted. Order emerged from the bottom up, forged by people who had skin in the game and zero patience for freeloaders.

The Canadian government eventually showed up, of course. The North-West Mounted Police imposed royalty schemes (initially 10% of gross output, later modified under pressure), created licensing requirements, and generally inserted themselves into an already-functioning productive order. Costs rose. Smaller operators got squeezed out. The big corporate dredging operations that dominated the Klondike after 1900 were partly a product of regulatory overhead that only large capital could absorb. Regulation priced out the little guy instead of protecting him.

The deeper lesson here is about scarcity and title. The frozen ground had zero economic value until individual human action transformed it. A man who spent months hacking permafrost to extract gold had a legitimate property claim not because a government granted him a certificate, but because he mixed his labor and his life with that resource. Property rights precede the state. They don't flow from it. Dawson City proved it empirically in one of the harshest environments on earth.

People like to treat property rights as a polite legal convention, something courts invented to keep things tidy. Try to tell that to a man who spent the winter of 1897 in a canvas tent at forty below, defending his claim with a rifle and a handshake agreement.

Anthropic ran a secret internal project with a one-line mission statement: destructively scan every book in the world. They called it Project Panama.

Court documents made it real. A hydraulic cutter sliced the spine off each book. Industrial scanners digitized every page. What was left went to recycling. Millions of books, gone, to build training data.

They knew exactly how this would read if it got out. One internal document instructed staff to keep quiet, warning plainly that they didn't want this becoming public knowledge.

In 2024 they hired the former head of Google Books partnerships with a single mandate: get "all the books in the world."

Here's the twist — a federal judge ruled it's legal. Because Anthropic bought the books first, and destroying the print copy after scanning meant no new copies were ever created, the court called it fair use. Format-shifting, not theft.

Now there's a marketplace for it. Services broker bulk orders of rare, pre-2022 books — the ones with no AI-generated text contaminating them — for AI labs that want to stay anonymous. Some come with NDAs attached.

A centuries-old book survives fires, wars, and generations of hands. It does not survive a scanner with a shredder on the other end.

Legal doesn't always mean easy to sit with.

Chinesische Autos haben genau das Selbe entmündigende Assistentssystem. Selbst wenn ich gerade erst eingestiegen bin und ich mit offenem Mund staune, bin ich "zu Müde deklariert" und muss eine Pause machen. Ich bin in einem Alter bei dem ich sagen kann: "Ich habe den Aufstieg bzw. das Prinzip der Ausnutzung schon vor 30 Jahren vorhergesehen."
Gehört hat natürlich niemand. Warum auch!? Nicht die Autobosse die mir seitdem jeden neuen runden Knopf als Innovation mit massivem Aufschlag verkauft haben und in 🇨🇳 riesige Gewinne kassiert haben. Schon gar nicht die staatlichen Eigentümer 🇨🇭🇫🇷 die selbst subventionierten und jetzt wieder Subventionieren müssen. Wenn eine Industrie so wichtig ist dann ist das zu schützen. (Punkt) Vorher, und nicht hinterher jammern. Chinesische Autos machen übrigens genau das was die bisherigen "Kartelle" verhindert haben: Gute Autos zu einem fairen Preis verkaufen. (Punkt)
