Kenya & UAE Relations
Amb. Lindsay Kiptiness, Deputy Director-General, Middle East Directorate held a courtesy meeting with H.E. Dr. Salim Ibrahim Alnaqbi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between Kenya and the UAE, with particular emphasis on the implementation of the recently signed and ratified Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), as well as concluded MOUs, noting that there was inaction in as far as implementation of signed agreements is concerned.
Both sides agreed to walk the talk. The CEPA is expected to open up market access for fresh agricultural products as well as trade and business opportunities between the two countries.
The two sides further noted the importance of expanding cooperation on investments, labour mobility, air connectivity, tourism, infrastructure, human capital development and exchange visits of young diplomats and knowledge sharing in the area technology and research.
On regional regional peace and security, the two Ambassadors noted that peace is paramount for economic development and undertook to work together to support regional peace efforts in the Horn of Africa and the Middle East.
