Would it be like a Jurrasic Park kind of thing? Kind of. Ancient DNA can be extracted always with better and better technologies. But this is not the primary plan since there are a lot of obstacles to that, both scientifically and ethically. #rewilding #ees028

The idea is backed up by a scientific justification but also would provide plenty of economic benefits as well. Such as a higher interest in seeing these animals (zoos) and overall media attention would spike interest in conservation. #rewilding #ees028

Rewilding would be an attempt to restore ecological functions. Misrepresentation of press is: stealing jeopardized animals from Africa and reintroducing them in the US. Use captive populations or in wild parks, use small experimental trials in protected areas #rewilding #ees028

Humans have played a HUGE role in the extinction of large mammals which play a very important role in ecosystems: predation and interaction with environment structures the ecosystem and maintains biodiversity. Loosing them means loosing an ecological function #rewilding #ees028

The vision of the plan os based on ecological history: talking mainly about the Pleistocene. North America was very different back then, it had more genetic diversity than Africa. However, in a blink of an eye 60 species larger than 100 pounds were lost. #rewilding #ees028

Besides being a road, Tamiami Trail (highway 41)'s also worked as a dam blocking the water blocking water from a later through everglades to the bay. As a result, everglades pass months being dry. Over decades, a key part of ecosystem dried up. #ees028 #everglades

Biological issue addressed and recovery goal reached: the Woodpecker population rebounded after certain training restrictions enforced on the military base, resulting in alternate training and some troops having to be shipped out of state for training. #ees028 #militaryecosystem
