Thanks to @Shumela_MDofRLP, Vikki Binnie @DGcouncil, Michelle Rogers @ClacksCouncil and Becky Reid @AngusCouncil who shared their time and expertise this morning reflecting on #lived experience with us. 💡
“We have a [@ScotGovJustice] strategy in place to shift the balance from prison to community, where it is safe to do so. Community sentences are often a better alternative - and more effective than a short prison sentence” our expert voice, Victoria, on @BBCRadioScot this morning
There are no surprises here, but that doesn’t make the concerns any less important. The stark reality is that we send too many people to prison for the available facilities & staff to be able to keep them in safe & humane conditions & to do enough to reduce reoffending.

First up, @CaledonianSyst1 ✅
The legal profession stood up to @HumzaYousaf in relation to jury trials. It is now time for us to stand up for our clients in prison and force the Government to move quickly on the use of the powers of release. At the very least we need to know when it might happen.
@seasiaobserver@FCOtravel@ukinaustralia In Queensland the fine will be up to 13,000 aud.
What I don't understand is why @FCOtravel dont just say no to all but essential travel because insurance companies wont pay out even though we cannot actually go on holiday!
Based on my phd findings this is common. Lots of people lose children coz they dont have adequate resources & support and/or are struggling to deal with the stresses and strains of life. Losing children adds to this and can have horrific consequences. We need to #supportnotpunish
I loved this article by @JadeVShepherd - strong recommend to @Prisoner_Family! So much to think about as to how institutions and state power shape family life.
Joe Sim - we need a more open discussion about crime - why in the 82,000 people in prison in E&W always the poorest. Why are our prisons not full of politicians or bankers? The CJS is oriented towards the powerless and increasingly racialised #HelpMePlease
