EHang’s EH216-S has successfully completed the first people-carrying pilotless eVTOL flights in Mexico and across Latin America.

Conducted at the FAMEX Tulum Air Show 2026, these landmark flights demonstrate the readiness of safe, sustainable and intelligent air mobility solutions in real-world airport environments.

EHang has signed a strategic MoU with Real Automóvil Club de España (RACE), a founding member of the FIA, to explore collaboration between Advanced Air Mobility and high-performance mobility.

The partnership comes as Madrid prepares to host both Formula E and Formula 1 in 2026, highlighting the city’s growing role in future mobility innovation.

The cooperation will include eVTOL demonstration flights, safety and regulatory dialogue, and public engagement activities at the Jarama – RACE Circuit.

2.Ecosystem readiness (airspace management+vertiports+ battery tech+charging+comms)

CAAC forecasts China’s low-altitude economy at RMB 1.5T in 2025 ($210B) and RMB 3.5T in 2035 ($490–500B).

My opinion:
Today (EU/US): certification + ops frameworks are the bottleneck. Rules are moving slower than the tech.
China shows faster pathways: EH216-S has TC, AC, PC+ OC (2023-25)—enabling early paid ops.
