Elko was SO quick to make a change when Weigman was struggling and he’s now SO resistant to make a change when Marcel can’t hit the broadside of a barn
I don’t understand it
Is Brady that bad or is Elko being that stubborn?
I couldn’t agree more with Kellen! That team was amazing and got ROBBED of an opportunity to win a national championship, something I think they very well could’ve done with how they were playing at the time
Kellen and that entire 2020 team are so incredibly slept on
One of the “cool” Aggie things to do is to hate on Kellen Mond. People are dead wrong on that. His senior year he balled out and won an Orange Bowl.
This year’s version of misplaced groupthink hating is on Holman Wiggins. He is not the problem!
@CoachDickey1 read my mind. I said this a few days ago.
Had a GREAT fall camp in 2020.
But Week 1, I didn’t play well against Vanderbilt. It kinda worried me because I played the complete opposite in fall camp.
Those games happen where you never get settled in or comfortable in the game.
But Week 2 at Alabama and Week 3 vs. Florida… KILLER!
The 2020 Texas A&M team will never get the credit it deserves.
9-1 in an all SEC schedule. #3 3rd down offense in the country. Arguably, the top ranked defense in the SEC based on statistics. Finished the season ranked #4 in the country. Multiple NFL Draft picks.
Truly one of the GREAT Texas A&M Football teams.
You simply have to have a QB that never throws into the dirt. It’s a huge tell on ability.
The allure of a highly mobile QB vs a good scrambler but has an accurate consistent arm has been our Achilles heel.
I knew that the whiniest TAMU fans were going to start coming for Elko after this one…
The man just took us to the playoffs one season ago… everyone breathe
Our inability to not overreact as a fanbase is always our downfall
Mike Elko is 16-8 against P4 competition at Texas A&M.
In 7 of those 8 losses, he was favored to win at kickoff.
In only one of those 16 wins (Notre Dame '25) was he an underdog.
He has underachieved. Significantly.
Morning after thoughts
-It still stings and is embarrassing, but we needed to face reality.
-This wasn’t a one-off bad day at the office. This has been Aggie football ever since the South Carolina game last year
-Getting bullied up front on both sides, bad QB play, strings of busted coverages, bad to mediocre special teams
-The future of this program has once again become very bleak. We want to believe in Elko, but the product isn’t where it needs to be in year 3
-Programs like Ole Miss and Alabama who have seen regime changes and have less resources, put out a much more consistent and better football product than we do every seaso.
-Honest conversations will need be had this week. There will be opportunities to respond on and off the field.
-Obviously a convincing win at LSU would heal people’s souls, but there are deep deep issues that seemingly need to be addressed
-2027 feels like it may be Elko’s last shot to bring in the right QB and coordinators to right the ship. And if not, back to square one. Poor aggy and they might be right.
